Congratulations to Chan Sze-kei, a form 4 student from Valtorta College, for winning the “Star Student Award”, earning a 5-day trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Chan participated in the 3rd “Innopreneur Experience Journey” co-organised by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks. She and three schoolmates were assigned to ASTRI, where they had a two-day job shadowing experience, exploring deep tech and other innovation technologies under mentors’ guidance. At the graduation ceremony, Chan’s impressive presentation wowed the judges, securing her a place on the overseas trip. She expressed gratitude to her four mentors at ASTRI for deepening her understanding of Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem, broadening her horizons, and enriching her tech knowledge. Following the signing of the MoU in May with Shandong Hi-speed Group and Lingnan University to explore innovative technology solutions that will elevate the development of smart mobility in Shandong, ASTRI CEO Dr Denis Yip 葉成輝 and his team visited Lingnan University today. During the meeting with President, Professor S. Joe Qin, Vice President Professor Raymond Honfu Chan, and other university representatives, we showcased our latest technology achievements in smart mobility and artificial intelligence. Both parties are eager to further collaborate among the industry, academia and research sector, joining forces to drive the smart city development.

ASTRI is actively advancing intelligent connected vehicles. Last week, our team visited the Guangxi Automobile Group headquarters to explore the latest trends in new energy vehicles and officially launched a collaboration with Wuling Motors Holdings Ltd, a Hong Kong-listed company. This collaboration enables both parties to fully leverage our respective strengths. We will cooperate in talent development, technology research and development, within extended reality (XR). Additionally, we will explore partnerships in smart connected autonomous driving, start-up incubation, and community services. Dr Alan Cheung, our Chief Director of AI and Trust Technologies, believes this synergy will enhance the application of XR and Metaverse in vocational education, boosting training quality and effectiveness. We aim to further deepen the collaboration, providing Wuling Motors Holdings with diverse solutions for various scenarios. Mr Wei Mingfeng, Vice President of Guangxi Automobile Group and Executive Director of Wuling Motors Holding Limited, stated that Guangxi is striving to build an important strategic hinterland in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, committed to promoting the "one area, two places, one park, and one corridor" construction. Our brilliant interns have been on an incredible journey, diving deep into Hong Kong's cutting-edge I&T world! They visited several technology companies and financial institutions, from the international renowned corporations IBM, Microsoft Hong Kong and Hewlett Packard Enterprise to representative local organisations and enterprises, including the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the HKSTP - Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, and Bank of China (Hong Kong), among others. They had close interactions with industry leaders, gaining insights into the future development of Hong Kong's technology sector, as well as the latest trends in Hong Kong's financial infrastructure and various FinTech products through in-depth exchanges and discussions. These experiences have broadened the interns' horizons and ignited their enthusiasm for innovation and technology.
