【CPD Training】Technical Visit to Tseung Kwan O Desalination Plant A group of 30 BEAM Practitioners and #BSL members, including Ir Garrick Sze, Director of BSL recently visited the first stage of Tseung Kwan O Desalination Plant (#TKODP), one of the strategic infrastructures by Water Supplies Department of the Government of HKSAR dedicated to providing reliable and adequate water supply that remains resilient to climate change. The site visit started off with an insightful presentation by Ir David WONG, Senior Resident Engineer of Binnies Hong Kong Limited, giving an overview on the project’s background, water treatment process, sustainability aspects of the plant as well as the off-site construction techniques that are used for the TKODP. Our group was also privileged to visit the Reverse Osmosis Building to learn about the reverse osmosis desalination technology firstly utilised in waterworks in Hong Kong. By adopting this technology, pre-treated seawater can pass through membrane, allowing fresh water to pass through while retaining salts and impurities. 【Cornhole Staff Tournament: Achieving Teamwork Success with Strength and Strategy】 BSL colleagues had a blast at our recent cornhole team-building event, filled with laughter, friendly competition, and great camaraderie. Teams from diverse departments collaborated to score points by tossing cornhole bags into the target hole with teamwork and strategy. 【CPD Training】Technical Visit to Sky Bridge – Unlocking the Sustainable Excellence of the World’s Longest Airside Bridge BSL recently organised a CPD visit to the Sky Bridge, a 200-metre-long airside bridge connecting Terminal 1 (T1) and the T1 Satellite Concourse at the Hong Kong International Airport. The Bridge accommodating the largest passenger A380 aircraft underneath not only sets a world record for being the longest airside bridge but has also garnered Final Platinum rating under #BEAMPlus New Buildings (#NB) v1.2. A big thanks to the Airport Authority Hong Kong’s team for their warm hospitality, granting us the opportunity to enjoy the stunning panoramic view across the airport and delve into the sustainable architectural design principles behind Sky Bridge. 【Strategic Partnership Agreement Signed Between Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone and BEAM Society Limited】 On 20 Sept 2024, Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone and BEAM Society Limited (BSL) 建築環保評估協會有限公司 entered into a strategic partnership to broaden the BEAM Plus assessment, BEAM Pro/ BEAM Affiliate training, and iBEAM data platform services in Qianhai. This strategic partnership allows developers in Mainland China to utilise the internationally recognised green building assessment, training and data analytics services offered by BSL in Hong Kong through Qianhai. One of the highlights of this strategic partnership is performing BEAM Plus assessment on the demonstration projects in Qianhai. BSL will assess five built projects in the zone using BEAM Plus Assessment Tools. The projects include Qianhai CTF Finance Tower, Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation Industrial Park, Phase II of the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub, Tencent’s New Headquarters and WeBank Headquarters.
