Our Employment and Pensions Associate Stephanie Yip discussed a case that confirms an employer’s right to terminate an employee without cause under the Employment Ordinance so long as it gives adequate notice or makes payment in lieu of notice, and this entitlement cannot be watered down by any implied term of trust and confidence. Watch the video now to learn more about the case, and see how you could protect your company against possible claims of wrongful or unreasonable dismissal! #DeaconsEmployment #EmployeeTermination #LabourandEmployment

On 20 October 2024, Jeremy Lam, Partner and Head of Financial Services Practice at Deacons, also a Director of the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC), spoke in a panel discussion titled “Blueprints for Success: Strategies to Develop International Financial Centres” at the 2024 Annual Conference of the Financial Street Forum. Jeremy focused on four key areas that are fundamental in maintaining Hong Kong’s status as an international financial and wealth management centre: - Hong Kong’s regulatory environment; - Hong Kong’s regulation of the securities and asset management industry; - Hong Kong connectively with Mainland China; and - Hong Kong’s legal system and the rule of law.
