The "Child's Heart, Listen Together" exhibition, organised by Fortune Pharmacal Co., Ltd. and co-organised by The WEMP Foundation was a remarkable success. Held from 6th to 9th June 2024 at the K11 Art Mall Piazza, this significant event aimed to address the growing concerns on mental health among children and adolescents in Hong Kong. The opening ceremony saw the attendance of key figures such as Mr. Ted Lai, Deputy Chief Executive of Fortune Pharmacal; Prof. Anthony Wu, GBS. JP, Member of the Advisory Committee of The WEMP Foundation; Alex Mo, CEO of The WEMP Foundation; and Marina Watt, a parent-child education expert, who is also the creator of the children's picture book "Child's Heart, Listen Together - Who Will Listen to My Heart?“. Prior to the ceremony, children’s drawings were collected from 4 participating schools of WEMP’s 18-District Positive Parenting School Tour; and 35 of them were selected and featured in the exhibition to encourage parent-child communication and emotional knowledge. Mr. Mo highlighted the importance of self-awareness among adults, stating that “Both adults and kids possess emotions. It is our responsibilities as adults to handle our own emotions before handle our kids’. This is how we could communicate with the kids, and learn their genuine feelings.” He added, “we share a common vision with Fortune Pharmacal to support and enhance community mental health initiatives. We hope to raise awareness and attract more resources to children's mental health projects.“ The event also showcased an ear-shaped art installation and distributed the children's picture book "Child's Heart, Listen Together - Who Will Listen to My Heart?“. Together with film screenings of ”Sound of Silence”, workshops and lectures on children‘s mental health, the Child’s Heart, Listen Together” exhibition has been scheduled to four primary schools in Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, and Tin Shui Wai from June to September this year. This initiative continues to promote meaningful parent-child engagement and mental well-being across Hong Kong. #wempfoundation #WEMP #FortunePharmacal #ChildsHeartListenTogether

The WEMP Foundation is proud to announce the expansion of the "Early Childhood Parenting Programme (ECPP)" in collaboration with the Queen Mary Hospital Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Team and psychiatrist Dr. Chan Kwok Ling, Phyllis, to kindergartens across Hong Kong. This initiative, initially piloted in 16 kindergartens under the The Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, St. James' Settlement, and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, has received overwhelming support, with over 4,000 parents and children participating. Dr. Choi Yuk-Lin, Secretary for Education, highlighted the importance of early childhood parental education and encouraged close collaboration between parents and schools to enhance early childhood well-being. Dr. Chan Kwok Ling, Phyllis, the ECPP Project Director, highlighted the impact of the pandemic on children's learning and development. The ECPP addresses post-pandemic parenting challenges through a comprehensive program that reshapes parenting styles, provides skills and stress reduction techniques, and strengthens parent-child relationships. The ECPP has already shown significant positive results, confirmed by the team led by Dr. Lee Chi Kei, Krystal, Clinical Assistant Professor, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. Advisory Committee Member of The WEMP Foundation, Prof. Anthony Wu, former Chairman of the Hospital Authority, and Ms. Lucilla Leung, former Principal of St. Paul's Co-Educational College Primary School, shared inspiring stories during interactive sessions with parents and principals of the pilot study, underscoring the positive impact of the program on families. Alex Mo, CEO of The WEMP Foundation, said, "As emphasized by our Founder, Dr. Adrian Cheng, Early Childhood is the key in fostering healthy brain development and mental well-being, particularly in building up mental resilience, as confirmed by research findings from Harvard University. This initiative is more than a program—it's a movement towards a brighter future for our children and society at large.“ Prof. Tsang Kit Man, Sandra, Department of Social Work and Administration, The University of Hong Kong, discussed the framework and strategies of the Curriculum Framework on Parent Education (Kindergarten), while Prof. Hui Na Na Anna, Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences, City University of Hong Kong, elaborated on key elements crucial for child development. The success of the pilot programme has paved the way for The WEMP Foundation to implement the program across kindergartens in Hong Kong. The programme aims to help parents reshape their parenting views, improve their parenting skills, and establish good parent-child relationships early on. This not only helps to alleviate parental stress but also has a positive impact on promoting children’s mental health. Stay tuned for more updates on the ECPP programme from WEMP. #wempfoundation #WEMP #ECPP #WellBeing #Childhood #MentalHealth #Parenting

The WEMP Foundation's "Go Go Love" Project, in collaboration with International Social Service Hong Kong Branch (ISSHK) and supported by the generous sponsorship of Sino Group, recently organized a delightful Biodiversity Discovery Tour for underprivileged families from the Sham Shui Po District. The aim of this initiative was to provide these families with a unique and unforgettable experience that combines learning and leisure. The event began with a delectable buffet lunch, courtesy of The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong, setting the stage for a day filled with wonder, discovery, and cherished memories. After enjoying the sumptuous meal, participants embarked on an educational adventure through Ocean Park, immersing themselves in the park's fascinating world of attractions. One of the highlights of the tour was the visit to the CORAL REEFStoration Centre, the rehabilitation facility of the CORAL REEFStoration Project, where participants were captivated by the sight of over 120 rescued coral fragments. Each fragment represents a noble effort to restore 20 square meters of reefs on the Middle Island, showcasing the importance of coral reef conservation. This particular collaboration between WEMP and Sino Group reflects their shared commitment to providing exceptional parent-child experiences and their dedication to supporting underprivileged families. By offering unique opportunities for families to learn and bond, these organizations foster stronger family connections within the community. During the tour, the families also had the opportunity to meet "Passion", a non-native crocodile rescued from Hong Kong's rural area, at the Crocodile Tour in Croco Land. This encounter provided an engaging way to educate families about the significance of protecting local biodiversity while captivating them with the stories of these incredible reptiles. After the educational tour, families had free time to enjoy Ocean Park, allowing them to bond over shared experiences and create lasting memories together. The WEMP Foundation would like to express its deepest gratitude to Sino Group for their generous sponsorship of this event. Together, we remain committed to curating impactful experiences that enrich the lives of families, ignite the curiosity of children, and inspire a love for our planet's remarkable biodiversity. #wempfoundation #WEMP #GoGoLove #SinoGroup #FamilyBonding #Parenting #WellBeing #Childhood #MentalHealth #InspirationAndCompassion

Discover the power of art and emotions at The WEMP Foundation's "Go Go Love" project. Our mission is to facilitate quality parent-child experiences that nurture emotional bonds and effective communication. We recently had the privilege of participating in the opening of the "MUSEA WELLNESS CLUB" at K11 MUSEA, a dynamic event that offered over 50 mind-body experiences, covering fitness, beauty, nutrition, and mental wellness, from March 1 to March 24. As part of this event, our dedicated team from the "Go Go Love" project engaged with children and parents on March 2, offering a range of interactive and enriching activities. One of the highlights was the introduction of the unique "Daily Emotion Intake” cards, a valuable resource created by The WEMP Foundation to help children recognize, express, and manage their emotions in a positive and constructive manner. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to contribute to a collective art project by adding color to a graffiti wall brought to life by renowned artist Danny Casale, also known as Coolman Coffeedan. The day culminated in a visit to the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, where families were encouraged to unleash their creativity and collaborate in building imaginative Lego structures. The genuine enthusiasm and joy displayed by the families throughout the day were truly heartwarming, and it was an honor for our team to be a part of these memorable moments. The "Go Go Love" project continued its inspiring journey with a special event on March 23. We were delighted to have Danny Casale join us for a drawing session, actively engaging with the children and promoting positive mental health through artistic expression. This collaborative effort provided a creative outlet for the families, allowing them to express their individuality while fostering a sense of community and shared accomplishment. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to K11 MUSEA for the invaluable opportunity to create a joyful and wholesome day for these families. This event not only provided enriching experiences but also strengthened parent-child relationships. #wempfoundation #WEMP #GoGoLove #FamilyBonding #ArtAndEmotions #PositiveExpression #EffectiveCommunication #JoyfulExperiences
