We are excited to announce the release of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, published by the HKUST Business School in collaboration with Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), the FinTech Association of Hong Kong (FTAHK), and the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC). This report offers a comprehensive overview of Hong Kong's fintech landscape, featuring the 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀, and 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿-𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀. Additionally, it presents key insights from the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 conducted by InvestHK, along with valuable findings from ongoing research and engagement with industry stakeholders. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 💡 Hong Kong's fintech landscape is rapidly expanding, with over 1,100 fintech companies in operation, including ten unicorns, and over 25,000 individuals employed. 💡 The blockchain application/software and digital assets/cryptocurrency sub-sectors saw significant growth of 250% and nearly 30% respectively from 2022 to 2024. 💡 The wealthtech sub-sector houses the largest number of fintech companies, followed by blockchain applications, payment and remittance, and digital assets/cryptocurrency. 💡 Hong Kong and the USA are the most favored markets for business operations for fintech companies registered outside of Hong Kong. Mainland China and Singapore are the most preferred choices for expansion among the registered companies. 💡 The primary advantages of operating a business in Hong Kong include a low tax rate, access to clients, and access to government subsidies/funding schemes; while key challenges faced by businesses include talent availability, access to capital and access to clients. The report suggests that Hong Kong's fintech landscape will continue to evolve, driven by advancements in technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing, highlighting the immense potential for both local and international businesses. 🚀🔍 🔗 Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/gsC5Mh97 #FintechHK #HK #HongKong #HKUST #HKUSTBusinessSchool #InvestHK #FSDC #FTAHK #Fintech #Regulation #Research #Report #Insights
