Yuk Ping, who just celebrated 30 years of service, is a shining example of how Eaton Workshop encourages individuals to demonstrate their authentic selves at work. We are proud to celebrate Chan Yuk Ping’s Long Service Award as a valued member of Eaton HK’s stewarding team. Yuk Ping’s journey embraces her unique communication style as she uses sign language to connect with others. Yuk Ping’s dedication extends far beyond her role. She proactively participates in team activities and volunteers to help others. Yuk Ping also recently formed a strong bond with a new team member with a hearing impairment. Communicating through sign language, they shared experiences and meals together, and cultivated a unique understanding with each other that enriches Eaton’s workplace culture. This connection not only highlights the importance of inclusivity but also inspires curiosity among the rest of the Eaton team. As part of the hotel’s commitment to inclusivity, they have organized special sign language orientations and training sessions for team members to facilitate communication and deepen their understanding of people with disabilities. Langham Hospitality Group are grateful for all she brings to our community, and we will continue to foster a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. On World Tourism Day, we echo António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General’s view that tourism brings people together with a message that hospitality and travel can advance peace. Langham Hospitality Group, each of our brands, The Langham, Cordis and Eaton are engaged at multiple levels of action that play a role in their communities. We execute missions which foster inclusion and diversity amongst our colleagues and guests, preserve our cultural and natural heritage through repurposing historic buildings or local clean up initiatives and develop programmes with social impact. We believe sustainable tourism can transform communities in which we operate. Let’s pause for thought on each of our roles, as a guest or an industry colleague, in harnessing the power of travel to promote mutual respect and understanding. #WorldTourismDay #WTD2024 #TakeCareOfTheWorldAroundUs

The Langham, Jakarta is committed to fostering professional growth, and Audie Indianaputra’s career journey is a perfect example. Starting as a Room Controller, Audie transitioned to Assistant Manager Quality – Front Office with the encouragement of his Department Head. Audie had been proactively pursuing cross-department exposure, which was key to his development. This included stepping into Duty Manager duties, expanding both his expertise and leadership skills. He also received guidance from mentors like Jonah Ley of Cordis, Hong Kong. Through taking on greater responsibilities and invaluable mentorship, Audie gained a deeper understand of hotel operations. “The support from my colleagues has helped me to navigate all my challenges. To fellow professionals considering similar paths, I offer this advice - continuously embrace the learning curve as each challenge brings invaluable lessons,” Audie shared. Looking ahead, Audie is excited to continue exploring opportunities within Langham Hospitality Group through the diverse experiences he gained along the way. #LHGLife #BetterEveryday #CareerGrowth

As part of Langham Hospitality Group’s ongoing commitment to promoting sustainability, our three hotels in Hong Kong have been participating in innovative initiatives centred around repurposing oyster shells. These groundbreaking programmes at The Langham, Hong Kong, Eaton HK, and Cordis, Hong Kong, aim to not only minimize waste but also create significant value from the discarded shells.   The Langham, Hong Kong and Eaton HK, have collaborated with Green Island Cement, a local cement manufacturer, piloting an innovative programme to recycle and repurpose waste oyster shells as a sustainable alternative to limestone in the cement manufacturing process. By collecting oyster shells from hotel restaurants and implementing efficient cleaning, storage and logistics methods, these initiatives have contributed to reducing waste that would otherwise end up in landfills, while also providing a sustainable solution for the construction industry.   Cordis, Hong Kong, meanwhile, was the first hotel to join forces with The Nature Conservancy’s Oyster Reef Restoration Program. This ongoing partnership, established in November 2020, focuses on upcycling oyster shells from the hotel’s restaurants into substrate for new living reefs. These reefs serve as vital habitats for juvenile fish and other marine life, playing a crucial role in preserving biodiversity and restoring fragile ecosystems.   Check out our video to learn more about the Oyster Shell Upcycling Program organised by The Langham, Hong Kong and Eaton HK.   #TakeCareOfTheWorldAroundUs #Sustainability #OysterShell
