At The Langham, Jakarta, Ade Rachmalia, a reservation agent, made a significant personal decision to wear a hijab to work, reflecting her identity and faith. This decision was met with genuine acceptance amongst the team, which strongly valued diversity and inclusion.  Ade has found this to be deeply positive, as her individuality is not only respected but celebrated. The Langham, Jakarta hosts various events that honour different cultures and religions, from Iftar and Halal Bihalal for Muslim colleagues, to Easter and Christmas festivities for Christian colleagues. Having such activities that respect cultural differences is important to Ade, as this fosters her sense of recognition and belonging at the workplace. “To fellow hospitality professionals facing similar challenges, I encourage embracing your true self and communicating any concerns related to cultural acceptance openly. Together, we can enhance diversity and inclusion within the hospitality industry,” Ade shared. Langham Hospitality Group will continue to facilitate a welcoming environment for all backgrounds. We believe diversity not only enriches the workplace, but also enhances the overall guest experience. #LHGLife #EmbracingDiversity #DEI

In celebration of the 9th anniversary of Cordis Hotels and Resorts, Langham Hospitality Group has collaborated with the visionary Chinese artist Hou Zichao and Harper’s BAZAAR to unveil a striking heart-shaped installation called “Seeds Belong to the Mountain”. Attended by more than 140 key media guests and partners, a launch event was successfully held at Fosun Foundation Building, overlooking the Bund. The unveiling of Hou Zichao’s artwork marked the beginning of an initiative to display heart-shaped sculptures in every Cordis Hotel globally. Each installation will subtly embed Cordis’ iconic slogan “The Heart of It All”. Cordis, which means “of the heart” in Latin, encapsulates the essence of our commitment to deliver heartfelt service. Drawing inspiration from his experience of staying at a Cordis Hotel, Hou Zichao’s heart-shaped sculpture represents hope, the abundance of life and the comforting sense of home. Hou’s sculpture is on display at Fosun Foundation Building until 2 September, together with the heart-shaped installations placed in Cordis, Xuzhou and Cordis, Foshan, Lingnan Tiandi. Join us in this journey as we continue to bring art to the forefront of Cordis’ hospitality. #CordisHotels #TheHeartofItAll #Cordis9thAnniversary

Doing the right thing starts by trying to do a little better every day. At Langham Hospitality Group, we are committed to positively impacting our environment. Recognising the vital role honeybees play in biodiversity, we have embraced urban beekeeping as part of this. With 75% of the world’s food crops relying on pollination, mainly by bees, supporting these creatures whose ecosystem is under threat is crucial. The Langham, Boston, hosts two beehives and incorporates the honey produced into menu items at its British-inspired cocktail bar, The Fed, and the Italian restaurant, Grana. Cordis, Auckland, collaborates with local bee rescues, housing gentle Italian bees that thrive in Auckland’s ideal environment, producing the unique butterscotch-tasting Pohutukawa honey. Chelsea Hotel, Toronto, partners with Toronto Bee Rescue, maintaining four on-site hives and offering honey-infused culinary delights at the Market Garden restaurant. These initiatives are just a few ways we are contributing to sustainability. As part-time urban beekeepers, we are proud to support local ecosystems and offer our guests a brilliant taste of nature. #TakeCareOfTheWorldAroundUs #Sustainability
