This summer, we were delighted to host more than 40 interns from various business functions at Manulife. Throughout their internship, these talented individuals had the chance to interact with our senior management team, campus recruitment team, and former interns who are now employed full-time at Manulife. We are committed to offering our interns valuable experiences that will contribute to their personal and professional growth. By participating in interactive sessions and networking events, we believe they have gained important insights into the finance and insurance industry, as well as a deeper understanding of Manulife's dedication to fostering an inclusive work environment. We are confident that the knowledge and connections they have acquired during their time with us will benefit them greatly, and we are excited to witness their future achievements!

Our senior executives once again took the stage at the South China Morning Post SCMP China Conference 2024, marking the third consecutive year that we have been the presenting sponsor of this event, where a wide range of topics was discussed to navigate a transformative shift in economic dynamics and discover promising opportunities. At the conference, our Asia President and CEO, Phil Witherington, delivered opening remarks, highlighting the monumental impact of China's ongoing development. He articulated the immense opportunity for business and social advancement raised with the country's modernization and encouraged leaders to seize the opportunity to make meaningful contributions. Our Hong Kong & Macau CEO, Patrick Graham joined a panel entitled “China’s Economic Reckoning: impact on Hong Kong, Asia and the world” alongside with Victor Gao, Dr. Jimmy Jim, and Eric Li. During the discussion moderated by Zuraidah Ibrahim, Patrick emphasized Hong Kong's enduring role as a “superconnector” and its competitive advantages including positive economic growth, increased tourist inflow, and thriving life insurance and wealth management sectors. ...and that’s a wrap for the Manulife leg of the Diversity Immersion Programme! 2 weeks, 21 different sessions with various departments, teams, and leaders across our three offices in Hong Kong. That’s what it’s like to be one of the 8 interns onboard this unique placement running for the fourth year in a row! With their fresh perspectives, we continue to build an inclusive workplace, while better understanding the many diverse needs of our customers – making their decisions easier and their lives better. Initiated in 2021 by Manulife along with Herbert Smith Freehills and Hyatt Hotels International, the Diversity Immersion Programme is designed to attract university students from diverse backgrounds. Most importantly, it is to provide them with cross-industry exposure, professional skills development, and networking opportunities. Thank you to everyone who joined our first event in the “Your Mental Health Matters” series, a partnership of Manulife Hong Kong and Macau and Mind HK 香港心聆 !     The theme for this event was to stock up your “Mental Fridge” by Ben Sir to encourage people to save their own “spiritual food” and use personal interests such as sports, art, family, partners, friends, etc. to improve how we handle emotions in our daily lives.     We also heard the sharing from Dr. Candace Powell, CEO of Mind HK, Opal, mental health expert, and Phoebe, Mind HK ambassador on different ways to take care of yourself and other people’s emotional needs.     Stay tuned for future events from Manulife and Mind HK to support our walk together towards better mental health for everyone!
