Breaking News! MTR Research Funding Scheme Application 2024 is Now Open! Following the success of the first round, in which MTR awarded funding for 12 projects, we are delighted to announce that applications for MTR Research Funding Scheme 2024 is now open!   The MTR Research Funding Scheme is a platform that embraces forward-looking research. We are thrilled to continue supporting groundbreaking projects that have the potential to shape the future of railway operations and services.   MRF2024 is set to be even more dynamic, with fresh themes that delve into crucial aspects of railway transport. The themes for this year are: 1. Railway System & Operation Resilience 2. Human Factors in Railway Transport and Services   Timeline for MRF2024 - Application Opening Date: 1 December 2023 - Research Proposal Submission Deadline: 29 February 2024   MRF aims to support exploratory and up-stream research to create and build future operations and services in mass public transportation. Railways in Shaping Urban Development for Future Growth   Riding on the HKSAR Government’s Belt and Road Week, MTR Corporation and MTR Academy will host the “Belt and Road Railway Forum” in Hong Kong on 13 September with the theme of “How Public Transport Contributes to Building & Connecting Communities”. The event will bring together railway professionals from different regions to explore the role of public transport in urban development. We are thrilled to share our amazing experience at the 2023/24 Shape Our Future: WeCan! Career Exploration Day organized by Project WeCan 學校起動計劃, for over 2,000 secondary school students in Hong Kong. MTR Academy was proud to be one of the exhibitors at this event, where we had the opportunity to connect with bright young minds and share the industry knowledge in the field of railway engineering. One of the highlights of the day was the interactive game set we designed, aimed at helping students learn the fundamental principles of railway engineering in a fun, engaging way. We crafted wooden tracks and created several sets of wheels in different shapes, allowing the students to explore and experience firsthand the principles of how train wheels interact with the track. It was incredible to witness their eagerness to learn through play and see their faces light up when principles behind the game set were revealed to them. We were encouraged by the responses from students who displayed a natural curiosity and passion for railway. A huge thank you to Project WeCan for inviting us to be a part of such a well-received event. Celebrating Mentorship! Our Mentorship Programme recently brought together our lecturers, mentors, mentees and alumni helpers in an evening filled with laughter, insight and meaningful connections. The mentors, together with volunteering lecturers Roger Chan and Ernest, graciously shared their own experiences, inspiring and guiding our students to plan their future post their graduation. At the Academy, we place student support as our utmost priority and aim to foster a sense of family, empowering students on their academic journey. Together, we encourage personal growth within a supportive community. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Roger and Ernest, as well as our dedicated mentors— Herman Lui, Kei, Nelson, —and the incredible team of alumni helpers—Alex, Ian, Oscar, Simon and Willi. Academy's Renovation Journey Begins! We are going to expand! The renovated premise will unveil a larger community space and better fitted classrooms to improve the learning experience. As we gear up for the renovation, our team  took a moment to capture a photo to bid farewell to the space that has been so integral to all students, teachers, alumni, and our staff. During the upcoming renovation, classes will carry on as usual. We are mindful of the disruption, however minimized, to daily routine and services. With constant communication,  our students, teachers, and staff are well informed and aware of what to expect.
