We were excited to host the inaugural leg of The World Games Series 2024 at GO PARK Sai Sha! About 100 athletes from around the globe gathered in Hong Kong to compete in three sports – cheerleading, roller and wushu. The World Games Series allowed locals and tourists to enjoy the games and experience the joy and excitement of sports. The thrilling competitions were accompanied by a vibrant carnival, with sports experiences, game booths, and local delicacies for participants to try out, not to mention the cute and photogenic panda installations that had attracted great attention and affection. The highly anticipated Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon brought electric energy to the city on 13 October! We are proud to serve as the title and charity sponsor for the seventh time of this mega cycling event, which attracted about 6,000 cycling enthusiasts this year including about 400 cyclists from the company and world-renowned cyclist Chris Froome. In keeping with the spirit of Sports for Charity, donations raised from the Cyclothon and the Group’s top-up contribution will support those in need through The Community Chest of Hong Kong. The exciting event also featured a sports-themed carnival in the West Kowloon Cultural District. With photo installations, a cycling-themed market, emerging-sports workshops and local delicacies, the carnival transformed the Cyclothon into a city-wide sports and wellness festival, showcasing the charm of the city to locals and tourists alike. Four-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome made his debut in the 50km ride, sharing his praise for the stunning cityscape he experienced while cycling along the route. The Group published its latest sustainability report today, highlighting our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance for the 2023/24 financial year. In the latest report, we enhanced our climate-related disclosure in accordance with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and with reference to the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)’s IFRS S2 principles. Notably, we also reported our scope 3 emissions for the first time. We have made significant progress towards our 10-year environmental targets. After meeting our 2029/30 greenhouse gas emissions target, we have set a new target for the future. Our commitment to sustainability is further demonstrated by the 150 green building certificates awarded for 123 of our projects in Hong Kong. The Group is actively advancing solar energy development in Hong Kong. Currently, 64 properties owned or managed by the Group have installed over 16,500 solar panels, generating nearly 7 million kWh of electricity annually—enough to power 2,100 households. This initiative reduces carbon emissions by 3,200 tonnes each year, equivalent to planting 140,000 trees. This extensive network of solar panel systems is among the largest in Hong Kong, encompassing residential developments, offices, shopping malls, industrial buildings, and construction sites. Notably, the solar panel systems at the Group's Sai Sha mega project construction sites are the first of their kind. SHKP Executive Director Christopher Kwok emphasized the Group's commitment to making Hong Kong a greener city and supporting the government in achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The Group plans to continue expanding its solar initiatives. By the end of 2025, the number of managed properties equipped with solar panel systems will increase to 80, generating approximately 8.96 million kWh of electricity annually. Additionally, the Group’s property management companies, Kai Shing and Hong Yip, have implemented online monitoring systems to track the performance of the solar panel systems in real time, allowing for timely adjustments and increased efficiency.    #SunHungKaiProperties #shkp #SolarPower #Sustainability

While recycling is a big step in creating a green environment, upcycling takes waste reduction a step forward by offering everyday items a second life! In the latest green workshop, the participants learned how to turn used coffee grounds into an organic, eco-friendly mosquito repellent, which can be burned like incense to produce a scent that keeps mosquitoes away.
