Chief Operating Officer (COO), APAC

Our client, a leading laminate manufacturing firm with a significant global presence, seeks a highly experienced and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) for their Interior Business. This executive will drive operational excellence across manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, logistics, quality, and R&D functions, ensuring alignment with the company's ambitious growth objectives. The Interior business represents a critical 40% of the overall business, making this role essential for sustained success. The COO will report directly to the APAC President and be based in Hong Kong.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence:

• Lead and optimize internal and external manufacturing operations to ensure efficient, high-quality output.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies that enhance cost efficiency and supplier performance.
• Oversee the end-to-end supply chain, ensuring streamlined operations from sourcing to delivery.
• Manage logistics to guarantee timely and cost-effective product distribution across the APAC region.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Establish robust quality control systems to uphold the highest product standards.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal standards, mitigating risks across all operations.

Innovation and Development:

• Drive the R&D function, fostering innovation and continuous product improvement.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to expedite new product development and market introduction.

Strategic Operational Leadership:

• Formulate and execute operational strategies that support the company's growth and profitability targets in APAC.
• Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and industry best practices to inform strategic decisions.

Financial Stewardship:

• Develop and manage operational budgets, focusing on cost control and resource optimization.
• Implement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs without sacrificing quality.

Leadership and Team Development:

• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing operational team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
• Drive continuous improvement and professional development within the team.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, partners, and regulatory authorities.
• Provide regular updates to the APAC President and senior leadership on operational performance and strategic initiatives.

Candidate Profile:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 15 years in senior operational leadership roles, preferably in high-tech or manufacturing sectors.
• Track Record: Demonstrated success in managing large-scale operations, including manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, logistics, quality within Asia.
• Strategic Acumen: Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Leadership: Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to lead and inspire diverse teams.
• Regional Expertise: Experience in the APAC region with a deep understanding of its business landscape and cultural dynamics.
• Performance Orientation: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities with a focus on results.
