Today marks the eighth anniversary of the passing of the legendary George Andrew Olah, also known as Oláh András György. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1994 for his contributions to carbocation chemistry, where his research led to the discovery of protonated methane stabilised by superacids, which opened up ways to use and further study these.
