Watchmen: DC Compact Comics Edition, released on June 4, 2024, placed at number 18 on the chart. Superhero titles (with the exception of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin) don’t typically have high sales in the book channel, but DC’s Compact Comics line was designed specifically for new readers (see "DC Launches New Line of Compact Comics"), and it seems to be doing the job. Watchmen is typically one of the best-selling Superhero titles, so it makes sense that it would be the one to make the Top 20.
The top of the chart belongs to a different sort of superhero story: Vol. 38 of My Hero Academia, a manga set at a school for superheroes. With the exception of Watchmen, all the new releases on the chart are Shonen Jump manga, including Vol. 10 of Kaiju No. 8 in second place, and most of the rest of the chart is older Shonen Jump titles as well.
Although Vol. 6 of Lore Olympus was released in May 2024, only the hardcover edition makes the June chart; sales of this series have softened over the years.
