AP2HI participated in the regular meeting of the North Sulawesi Province Tuna Fisheries Co-Management Committee (FCMC), which was facilitated by the North Sulawesi Province Regional Maritime and Fisheries Service and MDPI . This meeting was attended by local governments and non-government organizations such as WCS Indonesia, YII, AP2HI, and MDPI. It was also attended by pole & line fishermen from Bitung and handline fishermen from Minaesa. . At this regular meeting, AP2HI presented the Concept of Forced Labor Indicators for Domestic / Small Scale Fisheries by North Sulawesi Field Staff, Omega Sambuaga. . Omega, who received Training of Trainers (ToT) on Labor Standards facilitated by the ILO 8.7 Accelerator Lab Project at the beginning of June 2024, presented the indicators for the Forced Labor category. On July 4, 2024 at Kema 3 Village Hall, North Minahasa, AP2HI carried out the distribution of BPJSTK cards for Occupational Safety Insurance for women workers in the fisheries sector (Petibo) to members of the Kema Mams community. Through this program AP2HI with support from ILO USDOL, is committed to supporting fisheries workers in obtaining work safety and protection guarantees, namely through BPJS employment. MSC Yellowfin Tuna Cutting Show at The National Tuna Business Forum In the Indonesian Tuna Investment and Business Forum by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) in Surabaya on late June, together with the Indonesian Pole & Line and Handline Fisheries Association (AP2HI) - the certified tuna fishery- Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) had a special section to promote the sustainable fishery by a sashimi cutting show. The 40-kg yellowfin tuna sashimi cutting was done by the Executive Japanese Chef and attracted most of the participants of the forum which were mostly tuna companies, trade representatives of partner countries and capitals. The tuna is coming from Bitung area from member of the AP2HI. Mr Budi Sulistyo, the General Director of Marine and Fisheries Product Competitiveness of the MMAF shared his appreciation to MSC for supporting the strategic business forum with the MSC certified tuna show and other promotional related programs. Besides tuna cutting, the MSC also joined the collaborative expo booth with AP2HI by displaying educative leaflets on MSC programs and products from certified fishery of AP2HI. The business forum was a series of Tuna Year activities whose goal was to increase tuna fishery investment from upstream to downstream and attended by 300 participants.
