🎉 Dutch Students awarded Indonesian Darmasiswa Scholarship 🇳🇱🇮🇩 We’re thrilled to congratulate the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) on the successful Opening Ceremony of the Darmasiswa Scholarship Program for the Academic Year 2024/2025, held on 30 August 2024. This prestigious #scholarship program invites students from around the world to immerse themselves in Indonesia’s rich language, arts, music, and culture for a full year. 🌍 This year’s highlights: - 236 students from 67 countries have been awarded the scholarship. - 69 Indonesian universities will host these talented individuals, making it a truly global initiative. We’re especially proud that four Dutch students were among the awardees this year! The Education & Science Attaché of the Dutch Embassy had the honor of attending the ceremony, accompanied by one of our Dutch awardee, Maaike Roos. We hope to see even more Dutch students join this fantastic program in the future. A huge thank you to Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia) for this incredible opportunity. The Netherlands and Indonesia have enjoyed a longstanding partnership in water management, collaborating since 2008 to develop solutions for Jakarta's flooding challenges. This collaboration culminated in the creation of the NCICD masterplan, which included a proposal for an outer sea walls. 🌊 With President Prabowo’s renewed interest in advancing this crucial infrastructure project, the Netherlands has once again been called upon to support the Indonesian government. Currently, Dutch experts are actively assisting the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs in driving this initiative forward. 🇳🇱 🇮🇩 Yesterday, Dutch Ambassador Lambert Grijns and Delegated Representative for Water Ivo van der Linden visited the Indonesian Secretary General of the Coordinating Ministry or Economic Affairs to reaffirm our partnership, receive updates on the progress, and discuss potential contributions from the Netherlands in the next stages of development. 🤝 We remain committed to strengthening our collaboration and contributing our expertise to support Indonesia’s efforts in achieving sustainable water management and flood resilience. 💧

Yogyakarta, known as the city of students, is one of the most popular cities in Indonesia for studying. Yvonne Klerks, the Education and Science Attaché, and her team recently visited Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), one of Indonesia’s top universities, for a courtesy meeting with the Office of International Affairs. It was also a wonderful pleasure to meet Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC., Ph.D, the former Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology. The meeting was about the current partnerships between Dutch universities and UGM, as well as current policies on higher education, research, and science in Indonesia. On this occasion, the Education and Science Attaché participated in the Summer Course on Hydrogen’s Role in Energy Transition, which is a collaboration between Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (University of Groningen) in the Netherlands, and the Energy Academy Indonesia | ECADIN. It is critical that the Netherlands work internationally to find solutions to global challenges like climate change. There are a considerable number of valuable projects between Indonesian and Dutch universities related to global challenges, and this initiative in Indonesia on renewable energy is a wonderful example. Thank you, Groningen University and UGM, for the insightful visit, and we wish you success in continuing this excellent collaboration!
