After nearly two years in the making, the Planning and Development Bill 2023 has been passed by the Dáil! This monumental piece of legislation is set to replace the Planning and Development Act 2000 and its numerous amendments. 📜 Key highlights: - this Bill is the third largest piece of legislation ever enacted in the State's history - once signed into law, the Bill will be enacted in phases through Ministerial Orders, similar to the transition to the 2000 Act from the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act 1963. - it is expected there will be a transition period where the "old" and "new" planning laws will apply Our Environmental & Planning team has been carefully reviewing the Bill and has identified some key changes that you need to know about. While a consolidated version of the Bill with all amendments as passed by the Dáil is not yet available, we have prepared a high-level summary based on the July 2024 administrative reprint published by the Houses of the Oireachtas Bills Office. 👉 Read our full summary here: https://lnkd.in/eVi67EhN #ALG #PlanningAndDevelopment #Legislation #EnvironmentalLaw #LegalUpdate #PlanningLaw #DevelopmentLaw

We had a fantastic and insightful day at our Employment Law Forum on Wednesday, where we explored some of the most topical and challenging issues facing employers and HR professionals at the moment. The line-up of speakers included legal experts, independent investigators, AI specialists and D&I leaders. They shared their perspectives and practical advice on workplace investigations, AI in the workplace, the High Court as an employment law forum and pay transparency. We also enjoyed hearing from colleagues from our Pensions, Health & Safety and Data Protection teams, who delivered a "speed law" session highlighting recent key developments in their areas for employers to be aware of. We would like to thank all our speakers and attendees for their contributions and engagement, and for making the forum such a valuable and enjoyable event.
