This research investigates new methods to optimise the means by which digital records of public infrastructure can be maintained to a high level of accuracy, leveraging existing records in the process. Telecoms infrastructure was the very first prototype of our asset detection and mapping system for Eir and later for BT Group. We have since mapped road signs, traffic lights, storm drains and are currently designing a solution for street lights. There are 2 main use cases here: (i) contractors who want plan ahead when sending engineers to site for maintenance activity and (ii) for network designers drawing up plans for 5G network rollout. 🔊Bridging the Digital Divide The Gigabit Infrastructure Act (GIA), entered into force on 11 May 2024 and will be fully applicable in November 2025. It is aimed at accelerating the rollout of very high-capacity networks (VHCNs) such as 5G and fibre optics across Europe. The GIA encourages rapid expansion of telecommunications infrastructure, which in turn relies on accurate and up-to-date mapping of existing assets such as poles, ducts, and street cabinets. This is an industry sector where AI has an overwhelmingly positive role to play. ai mapit has the capability to rapidly and cost-effectively generate up to date inventories of roadside infrastructure enabling telecoms companies to plan and execute their network expansions efficiently. With high recall and precision, the inventories we create can easily be integrated into existing GIS platforms such as Esri's ArcGIS GE SmallWorld Bentley etc. More details about the GIA here: https://lnkd.in/e4YX-Vf9

Always inspiring to see the level of activity all around Ireland in the applications to the AI Awards. As an entrant in previous years, it was a fantastic opportunity for the ai mapit team to present our technology and receive feedback from the panel on the day.
