Karl Brophy, founder and CEO of Dublin strategic communications firm Red Flag Global, has been chosen as The Irish Times Business Person of the Month, an award run in association with Bank of Ireland. Former journalist Brophy recently sold his business to New York-headquartered Ankura in a deal valued at €45m. This week, we announced that our customer and colleague workspace and event venue in New York, experienced a surge in activity for 2024 with a 56% increase in visitors and 36% more events during the year versus 2023. The space is available to Bank of Ireland customers looking to expand into the United States. 

Our innovative EcoSaver mortgage has been shortlisted for the Business and Finance ESG awards under two categories, the ESG Innovation Award (Enterprise) and the ESG Sustainable Finance Award. We launched EcoSaver in 2024, the only product in the Irish market that rewards all homeowners for the energy efficiency of their home. In doing this, we completely transformed our fixed rate mortgage pricing, replacing our existing green mortgage with the launch of our EcoSaver mortgage. EcoSaver offers discounted fixed rates for all properties with a BER from A to G with each BER improvement bringing a larger discount enabling customers to do a complete retrofit or gradually improve their BER rating over time. In 2024, we continued our leadership in green lending products, including being the #1 green mortgage provider in Ireland. Our sustainability related lending to households and businesses grew by 32% to €14.7bn in 2024 and we are on track to meet our c.€15bn target for 2025 and c.€30bn for 2030.

Our CEO Myles O'Grady recently visited the CNN studio in New York as part of his United States engagements, which included investor and customer meetings. During his conversation with CNN's Richard Quest, he highlighted Bank of Ireland's strong performance in 2024, our positive outlook for 2027, and the promising growth trajectory of the Irish economy.

We are proud to have been judged one of the ‘Top 10’ ethnic minority employers by Investing in Ethnicity (IIE). We were also recognised as the ‘Most Improved’ employer. It was a privilege to attend the launch of IIE’s 2025 Maturity Matrix at the Palace of Westminster on the 27th February with Dawn Butler MP, the Chair of All Party Parliamentary Group on Governance and Inclusive Leadership. Our sustainability-linked Enviroflex loans are now available to over 95% of dairy farmers nationwide. Bank of Ireland developed Enviroflex in order to support the ongoing environmental transition in the agriculture sector, and we look forward to further developing this product and enhancing farmers sustainability practises.
