    I am excited to announce that a side project I've been working on with Rathmines College is launching this week! I'll be teaching a night course (a sentence I never thought I'd say!) specifically designed for people with disabilities, focusing on practical hints, tips, and tricks to help them navigate the job market and secure employment. The course will be conducted online over 8 weeks, featuring special guest speakers who will share their career journeys and insights on how they landed their jobs. There is a €50 charge, so If you know anyone who might be interested, please feel free to share this with them!

    🆕Did you hear about the recent opening of The WayFinding Centre? ✈️🚉🚡🚊🚏🚕This first of its kind, this multi-functional centre is driven by the need to make transport accessible for everyone! ➡️Located in the former Smurfit Kappa Printworks site in Glasnevin, the WayFinding Centre will provide a safe indoor environment which replicates the real-world experience of using public transport including lighting, acoustics, hazards and the built environment that surrounds public transport. ⭐With state-of-the-art equipment, technology and excellent facilities the Wayfinding Centre learning space includes: ✈️Plane and airport infrastructure 🚉Train carriage and platform 🚊Luas carriage and platform 🚏Double decker bus and bus stop 🚍 Coach and coach stop 🚕Accessible taxi 🛣️Roads, crossings and streetscape connecting all the modes of transport ✅High tech training rooms 🙌🏾The centre will allow people with access needs to be empowered through practical training and hands-on experience to explore all aspects of transport in a safe and controlled environment. ⭐It’s a space where all transport stakeholders bring unique perspectives to collaborate, co-create solutions, co-design foundations, develop views and test theories to ultimately ensure equity and inclusion are forefront of any transport development agenda. 🤩City of Dublin ETB fund a Vision Ireland FET Programme which is connected to this new centre.     🙌🏽 City of Dublin ETB recently attended a fantastic event hosted by the #AdultLiteracyForLife office. Adult Literacy Organisers Orna Fynes and Aisling Gillespie presented the Work Ready Programmes - a set of 5 modules which have been created in a collaborative project between City of Dublin ETB, Adult Education Service, Finglas and Down Syndrome Ireland. The project was funded by the Adult Literacy for Life, Innovation and Collaboration Fund. ➡️Course modules include: 🔹Working in Retail 🔹Working in an Office 🔹Working in a Hotel 🔹Working in a Café or Restaurant 🔹Working in a Hairdressers or Barbers ✅ The courses, which are accessible to learners with intellectual disabilities and pitched at level 2 are currently unaccredited but the aim is to look for QQI validation in the future.     🌟Principal of Colaiste Ide College of Further Education Finglas, Jean FitzGerald was recently invited as the City Of Dublin ETB representative to participate at The Trauma Summit Belfast 2024 (taking place 17th/18th June). ➡️The Trauma Summit has been designed to address key factors and issues surrounding trauma in all its guises. ➡️Gathering together some of the foremost experts in the mental health field to actively engage in presentations and panel discussions on a range of issues relating to areas of mental health such as depression, anxiety, stress and mood disorders, the summit presents cutting edge new thinking and strategies for helping all. ➡️Pictured below is Dan Siegel presenting to the Summit on Cross Generational Trauma and Personality. 🙌🏼As a member of Action Trauma Network, City of Dublin ETB was delighted to participate in this summit.
