We're delighted to share the news that the DCU National Centre for Family Business has won the prestigious 'Outstanding Stakeholder Engagement' category at the international Small Business Charter Excellence Awards 2024. Our unique stakeholder pathways approach 'Implementing research informed practice engagement for the family business spectrum' serves as a best-in-class stakeholder engagement strategy for business schools engaging or partnering with small businesses. The NCFB has engaged with over 1,500 family firms across various events and platforms (e.g., national conferences, workshops, seminars, factsheets, webinars, and podcasts), while also educating current and next-generation family members through its suite of educational offerings. In 2022-2023, we shared insights with our 4 key stakeholders: Family Business Practitioners: Our research has been shared with 31 Local Enterprise Offices, 200+ practitioners throughout Ireland, and disseminated through masterclasses and executive education programmes. Next-Generation Members: In 2022/23, over 1,100 students engaged in family business workshops, masterclasses, keynote talks, and seed funding pitches. Researchers and Educators: We are the Irish academic lead to the largest family business project globally, involving over 450 academics from 50 universities. Policymakers: We influence national and international policy issues relating to the prosperity and competitiveness of family businesses, including a submission to the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment in 2022, on new enterprise policy. Watch our video detailing our winning approach here: https://lnkd.in/e7kyUSSP Of course this success would not be possible without a winning team: NCFB Director Dr Eric Clinton, Associate Director Dr Catherine M. Excited to be taking on the role of Chair of the DCU Business School Executive MBA. For the past ten years, I've served as Director of the DCU National Centre for Family Business and worked with some of Ireland's leading family firms and multinational corporations globally. I bring a wealth of experience of context, and how internal and external pressures (e.g. social norms, religion, family expectations, clan cultures) can influence business practices. I'm very fortunate to be a principal investigator of the largest entrepreneurship (GUESSS) and family business (STEP) research projects globally which offers access to many hundreds of leading universities and some of the brightest minds globally. Over the past ten years, I've worked with many of our MBA graduates who've given up their time to guide and mentor our final-year students in our award-winning New Enterprise Development (NED) module, I look forward to meeting and building friendships with many more of you. I understand the challenges of taking on an MBA along with family, work and other commitments, but I will do my very best to be there to offer you support along your journey. If you would like to know more about our EMBA, please reach out to me. I can speak with you, meet with you or put you in touch with a current student or graduate to discuss the programme.
