Scale Ireland, supported by Enterprise Ireland, Google, National Treasury Management Agency ISIF, Bord na Móna, Atlantic Bridge, Research Ireland, and the Technological University of the Shannon, will host Ireland’s fourth Regional Start-up Summit in Athlone at the end of March. The event will feature regional start-ups and scaling companies, including Zinkworks, Mersus Technologies, GreyScout, IDASO Ltd, and Scopey, focusing on the potential and challenges facing these companies nationwide. The summit will coincide with the release of Scale Ireland’s latest State of Start-ups Survey results, addressing key issues such as capital availability, AI potential, staffing needs, and regulatory challenges. Munster Technological University (MTU) contributed almost €1 billion to the Irish economy between 2022 and 2023, according to a report by Indecon International Consultants. The university generated €979 million, created over 1,740 jobs, and saw 84% of its graduates employed within three months. Finline Furniture, a Laois-based furniture business, expects its revenue to grow to between €10 million and €11 million next year, driven by steady growth and the recent opening of a 40,000 square foot showroom in Dublin. Finline, based in Emo, was founded by spouses Kieran and Bridget Finane in 1979. Their sons Kilian Finane and ciaran finane run it today. Trave - Construction Management, a Co Cavan construction technology business, aims to raise up to €1 million in its next funding round. The round is expected to close near the end of the current quarter and will aid the business in its expansion across Ireland and into the UK later this year. Trave was founded by Paul Gilcreest in 2021 and is headquartered in the Cavan Digital Hub. The business has eight staff and has raised €100,000 in funding to date.
