We are proud to see Debra Ambassador Colin Farrell meet An Taoiseach Simon Harris following the incredible success of the Run to 40 with Emma Fogarty. At Debra, We campaign to change policies that affect people’s lives. No one living with EB, or caring for someone with EB, should have to struggle to access essential services. We’re here to ensure no one fights alone. This year, we asked the Government to ring-fence €600,000 for EB home nursing care and invest a further €95,000 to ensure holistic integrated care in line with the vision of Sláintecare (2021). For many in our EB community, access to vital services remains a challenge, often requiring relentless advocacy. We’ll keep campaigning to make sure the voices of those impacted by EB are heard and that their needs are a priority at the highest levels. We will be watching closely and reminding the current and incoming Government of the vital need for ring-fenced funding for those living with EB, and their families. You can support our work and help us drive change. You can still donate at debra.ie. Together, we can make a difference.
Great to welcome Colin Farrell to the office today. Determined to work to secure ring fenced funding for EB patients and also congratulated him on all his work and advocacy in this really important area

Proof that magic still exists ✨ What a monumental achievement by Emma Fogarty and Colin Farrell! Together, they’ve raised over €800,000 for Debra in the Irish Life Dublin Marathon & Race Series, with supporters from everywhere surpassing all expectations. Emma’s courage and Colin’s commitment have inspired an overwhelming wave of generosity—showing just how powerful people can be when they rally for change. None of this could have happened without an extraordinary community. From dedicated partners and supporters to generous companies, this overwhelming outpour of support shows what we can accomplish together. A special thanks to The Shelbourne and Lucius Farrell for their hospitality on the day. “That run was nothing compared to the pain she is forced to endure every single day, even though she doesn’t show it. It was an honour to see her waiting for me with 4km to go, each of those representing a decade of her life, and to do the final stretch together. I’ll never forget it.” From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! We will continue to stand by everyone impacted by EB and our fight to make sure EB care is prioritised will continue.

We’re on the final countdown to the Irish Life Dublin Marathon & Race Series, which takes place this Sunday! Yesterday I joined Jim Aughney, Race Director of the Dublin Marathon in making a €20,000 donation from Irish Life and Dublin Marathon to Debra - The Butterfly Skin Charity. Debra supports individuals living with severe skin condition epidermolysis bullosa (EB). Also pictured are Emma Fogarty , Ireland’s longest-surviving person battling the most severe type of EB, and actor Colin Farrell who is running the 2024 Irish Life Dublin Marathon for Debra in honour of his close friend, Emma’s 40th Birthday. Over 22,500 entrants are set to take to the streets of Dublin on Sunday, while raising money for charity and supporting local economy – best of luck to all of you taking part. There’s already a great buzz around the city, see you on the Irish Life Mile ( Northumberland Road), where together, we’ll cheer everyone home! #powerofsupport #debraireland #Dublinmarathon
