At the recent Public Sector Digital Transformation Awards 2024, Government Chief Information Officer (CIO) Barry Lowry won the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to public service over the course of his career to date. Barry is recognised as having a transformative impact on digital government in Ireland, and in his role as Government CIO he acts as the strategic advisor to Government on the digital government agenda and plays a leadership role in digital service delivery and innovation initiatives. In an article for eolas Magazine last year, he wrote about the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the public sector, and the role it will play primarily as a technology tool.
