An exciting project to see progressing is the Youghal Landfill Final Capping. On behalf of our client Cork County Council, Fehily Timoney were responsible for the detailed design, procurement and construction contract administration services for the Youghal Landfill Final Capping. The main contractor is Priority Construction Limited Construction, with independent construction quality assurance by Metlab and Geosynthetics by ABG Geosynthetics Ltd. FT’s Circular Economy and Environment team continue to demonstrate their skills and leading expertise in landfill engineering and capping works! Project Update: Youghal Landfill Final Capping We are delighted to share details of another project we are delivering in collaboration with Cork County Council. This project involves significant capping and environmental improvement works in Youghal, showcasing our expertise in landfill management and sustainable engineering solutions. 📌 Key elements of the works include: Cell 9 Final Capping Works: 🔹 Decommissioning of existing gas infrastructure 🔹 Permanent capping to an area of approximately 20,500 m² 🔹 Installation of LLDPE liner with gas collection and drainage geo-composites 🔹 Installation of new gas wellheads and extraction pipework 🔹 Placement of subsoil and topsoil capping layers 🔹 Installation of various utilities A big thank you to our hardworking Team and Fehily Timoney Consulting Engineers for their ongoing support and expertise on this project! Fehily Timoney and Company are pleased to hear the recent news that Thorntons Recycling was granted planning permission by An Bord Pleanála to expand their existing Materials Recovery Facility at Cappogue, Dublin 11. FT were responsible for the design of the expanded facility and completing the planning application and EIAR for the development. The development constitutes Strategic Infrastructure Development and is of national importance. It will substantially enhance waste management and recycling capacity nationally and will support achieving Waste Management targets defined under the Waste Framework Directive and Landfill Directive.
