Fingleton White’s Andrew McCann recently passed the CompEx Ex12 Application Design Engineer training course. This competency-based training and assessment course consists of two separate units, Ex12a (Non-Intrinsically Safe equipment) and Ex12b (Intrinsically Safe equipment) and covers the design and selection of electrical equipment in hazardous areas to the requirements of IEC 60079-14.   As many of Fingleton White’s projects are associated with explosive atmospheres, having EX12-qualified Engineers such as Andrew and Colin Tweed (who completed this course last year) builds confidence with our clients that we can deliver E&I designs that are safe and meet the required standards.  #FingletonWhite #DesignEngineer #Engineering

To date, we have been engaged by fourteen clients on thirty-seven Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland. With a combined capacity exceeding 3,000 MWh's, these BESS projects allow these National Electrical Grids to accommodate the output of existing and future renewable power generation facilities as they continue to decarbonise. In addition, these BESS projects provide: Power resilience - acting as an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to the national grids Peak shaving capabilities – effectively raising a site's Maximum Import Capacity (MIC), potentially delaying the need for grid connection upgrades as the site's electricity demand increases Energy arbitrage – reducing on-site energy consumption costs by allowing the purchase and storage of grid power at lower night rates, to be consumed during the more expensive day rate period Buffering for large demand loads - enabling these loads to be more easily and cheaply connected from the grid An alternative revenue stream - allowing the storage and sale of generated electricity back to the National Grids We provided services throughout the project life cycle, from supporting the initial planning application process to the detailed design and construction phases.
