Yesterday, we celebrated International Women’s Day at Jones Engineering , recognising the incredible contributions of women in our industry. We kicked off the day with an inspiring talk at Engineers Ireland from Dr Niamh Shaw—an engineer, scientist, and passionate advocate for STEM. She challenged us to break down barriers and push for greater inclusivity in the field. With only 5% of the construction workforce being female, it’s clear there’s still work to do. At Jones Engineering, we’re proud to be driving change—increasing our female workforce from 8.5% to 10.9% in just a year. Of course, no celebration is complete without some sweet treats and goodie bags! A big thank you to everyone who helped organise such a fantastic day. Honored to attend the #CIF2025 International Women’s Day event once again! We’re only halfway through the morning, and it’s already been an incredible experience—insightful panels on financial independence and breaking down barriers for women in construction, plus a truly inspiring keynote from Susan McGarry. Accelerating Action for Gender Equality in Construction   International Women’s Day (IWD) has been a global movement for over a century, championing gender equality and celebrating women’s achievements. But progress doesn’t happen on its own—it requires action, commitment, and change.   In construction, only 5% of the workforce is female—a statistic that highlights the need for transformation.
