A morning well spent at #EnablingWellbeingEnvironments with all the speaker including Niall Cussen Chief Executive and Planning Regulator at the Office of the Planning Regulator (OPR) and Ireland's first Planning Regulator and the focus on #TownCentreFirst for viable, vibrant and attractive locations for people to live, work and visit. Also we heard from Dr. Kira Fortune Regional Advisor for Healthy Cities, Health Promotion and Well-being within the World Health Organization (WHO) Europe Region and completely agree that "together we can break down silos...." Thank you @Healthyire_LG

Professor Tony Holohan, Director at the Centre for One Health at UCD tells us how robust data is essential to inform policy, to make the case to change practice and to plan for a healthy and resillient future. He presented the One Health approach that optomises the health of humans, animals and ecosystems by integrating these fields, rather than keeping them separate. It is about using multi-disciplinary teams that are solution focussed and use their diversity of thought as a strength. #EnablingWellbeingEnvironments @Healthyire_LG

Professor Catherine Woods, Director of the Physical Activity for Health Research Centre at the University of Limerick (UL), talks to us about a the need for more systematic methods of bringing research, practice and policy closer together to achieve real and sustainable impact. Totally agree we need clarity, concensus, committment and collaboration. #EnablingWellbeingEnvironments @Healthyire_LG @universityofLi

Attending #EnablingWellbeingEnvironments Webinar @Healthyire_LG - We are exploring how our environment influences health and more importantly how local government actions influence our environment. This is real 'food for thought' that leads to the question - what can we do together to ensure connected, collective, and collaborative actioning.

A great night at our #fit4farmlife event in Simpson's Bar Carndonagh this evening -a really good turnout from our North Inishowen farming community at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine funded health and wellbeing programme. A huge thanks to our speakers Shane McHugh from Teagasc and Sarah Toye McLaughlin HSE Ireland who spoke about farmers mental health and farm safety. Our local public health nurse Roisin McLaughlin also spoke about the importance of minding your physical health and carried out health checks throughout the night. The group will gather again next week where there will be a focus on fitness and a healthy cooking demonstration
