About us
Welcome to the official profile for Irish Distillers. Irish Distillers is the producer of some of the world’s most well-known and successful Irish whiskeys and one of Ireland’s leading supplier of spirits and wines. Led by Jameson, our brands are driving the success of Irish whiskey globally and are exported to over 130+ markets around the world, with many of those experiencing double or triple digit growth. Jameson is the world’s fastest-growing Irish whiskey, recording sales of more than 10 million cases in 2022. Formed in 1966, Irish Distillers was born when a merger took place between John Power & Son, John Jameson & Son and Cork Distilleries Company. In 1988, Irish Distillers joined Pernod Ricard, gaining access to unprecedented levels of investment and an extensive global distribution network. Since 2012, we have invested over €250m to double our production and bottling capacity to meet global demand for our products. Our portfolio of whiskeys is produced at Midleton Distillery, Co. Cork, where we push the boundaries of Irish whiskey production. Whether igniting passion for Irish whiskey with iconic brands such as Redbreast Single Pot Still and Powers, or defining the pinnacle of Irish whiskey with our Midleton Very Rare expressions, innovation is at the heart of everything we do. Today, we employ over 800 people across our operations in Cork, Dublin and Belfast. You must be of legal drinking age to follow us. Do not forward to anyone under the legal purchase age. Any user comments which condone or promote irresponsible or dangerous drinking will be removed. Please enjoy our products responsibly.

While writing the iconic ‘Dubliners’ in 1914, James Joyce’s drink of choice was Jameson, so much so that he playfully referred to his stories as ‘Jem’s sons’ – a clever pun on his beloved whiskey. #IrishDistillers #Jameson #JamesJoyce

We are delighted to announce that our Master Blender Emeritus, Billy Leighton, was recently recognised at the Irish Whiskey Industry Awards for his outstanding service to Irish whiskey, a testament to a remarkable career spanning almost five decades. Billy began his career at Irish Distillers in 1976 as a trainee accountant in the then Irish Distillers owned Old Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim. Over time, and working in a variety of roles across bottling, warehousing, maturation and blending, he discovered his passion and skill for blending. In 2004 he was named our Master Blender and remained in that role for 20 years, until November last year, when he passed the baton to Dave McCabe. Billy continues to support Irish Distillers’ brands as Master Blender Emeritus, working with brand teams on special launches and sharing his distinctive passion for his craft. Huge congratulations to Billy on this well-deserved recognition 👏 #IrishDistillers #IrishIndustryWhiskeyAwards

They say a picture paints a thousand words, but this one could use a bit of context... Before computers and modern technology, office records were carefully recorded in leather-bound ledgers. Neat, legible entries were a point of pride for account clerks but in 1811, one distracted clerk at the former Hewitts Distillery in Cork (later to become part of the Cork Distilleries Company) doodled the scenes beyond his office window, as farmers unloaded their barley. A moment in time, forever preserved in our archive more than 200 years later. #IrishDistillers #DidYouKnow
