We’ve set two new circularity targets!  ♻️ Did you know the construction industry is the world’s largest consumer of raw materials, using a staggering 38.8 billion tonnes globally every year? [1]  On #GlobalRecyclingDay we’re reflecting on the steps we’re taking to play our part in accelerating the sector’s transition towards a circular economy. As part of our Planet Passionate programme, we’ve set a zero company waste to landfill target by 2030* as well as two NEW circularity targets for 2025-2030: ✅ Facilitate 20 product takeback and recycling schemes by 2030  ✅ Increase our use of recycled and renewable raw materials to 1.5 million tonnes annually by 2030  With these new targets, we aim to reduce our impact across our value chain. Delighting Every Reader Deep in the Heart of Texas The library in Frisco, Texas, is home to an impressive array of features designed to engage and inspire visitors of all ages. Among its highlights are a dedicated area specifically for teenagers, several interactive zones for children’s play, a life-sized dinosaur skeleton, and a variety of other exciting additions. Each element has been thoughtfully designed to meet the diverse needs and interests of the public. The project incorporated underfloor air and underfloor power distribution systems to enhance both the flexibility and adaptability of the library. These systems enable the space to be reconfigured with ease, allowing users to modify the layout to suit their needs while ensuring that power sources remain easily accessible. Spanning a total of 150,000 square feet, the library’s raised access flooring includes a combination of accessible floor panel types, adding both functionality and aesthetic appeal to this dynamic, multifunctional space. Constructed from modular and prefabricated parts, the microhome prioritises ease of assembly, sustainability and adaptability. Its design emphasises the recycling and reuse of materials, reflecting a timeless, thoughtful approach to living that evolves with the passage of time. Planet Passionate Report 2024 – out now 🌍 Last year the climate crisis continued to unfold at pace, with average global temperatures exceeding the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C threshold for the first time. MICROHOME Kingspan Compliments Award: Forest Keepers Outpost Forest Keepers' Outpost, by Matthew John Fallowfield-Cooper and Airdyas Mikalajunas of Fallow Studio, is a pioneering community initiative in the Valdivian rainforest of southern Chile, dedicated to combating deforestation and promoting sustainable living. Its cluster-based design is anchored by a multi-purpose central tower, featuring rainwater storage, energy generation and resilience backup systems, fostering a self-sufficient and interconnected community.
