We were delighted to welcome our linked partners from An Cosan on campus in Carlow yesterday for our conferring ceremony. We had two cohorts graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Addiction Studies and community Development and a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Community Development. Well done to all our wonderful graduates

Courses range from micro-credentials to full major awards across a broad of disciplines with the majority in online or blended delivery format. Our colleagues Eamonn Sweeney and Maresa Fitzhenry recently attended the Out of the Blue Career Horizon expo in Cork. The event provided us with an opportunity to promote our suite of offerings as part of our Human Capital Initiative funded project CIRDAS. The event was organised by Stephen Moore from Out of the Blue and is Ireland's only Career Fair for Frontline Workers coming up to retirement providing them with opportunities for Networking, Recruitment and Upskilling.

SETU LLL was delighted to take part in the recent Generation Apprenticeship Expo - https://apprenticeship.ie/ - at SETU Arena at the invitation of Trevor Sinnott and team from the Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board. There was a strong attendence on the day with a diversity of prospective applicants getting a great feel for the broad range of options now available. SETU LLL was very ably represented on the day by Joan Mangan and Rachael Lonergan - thanks Ladies :)

************Free Webinar********************** Our colleagues Gabriel Eichsteller and Lillian Byrne (Dr) are collaborating with Social Care Ireland to host a workshop on the topic of "Supporting Relationship-Centred Practice in Social Care: Introducing Social Care". This is an opportunity to participate in a taster workshop for our level 8 Certificate in Social Pedagogy in Relationship-Centred Practice which commences in January 2025 Social pedagogy is an ethical practice framework used in social care and education settings across Europe and beyond. It focuses on how we can build positive and authentic relationships with children, adults and the wider community to support wellbeing, learning and social inclusion. In this practice-related and interactive online workshop, we will explore some of the key concepts in social pedagogy and how these can inform social care in Ireland, strengthen your practice and reaffirm the positive difference you are already making in the lives of the people you support. Alongside examples from Denmark and the UK, we’ll have contributions from Irish organisations who have successfully applied social pedagogical principles in practice. https://lnkd.in/e5UzMCU5

SETU Lifelong Learning are delighted to be offering our 50% funded Micro-credential Certificate in Finance for Non-Finance Personnel. Micro-credentials are short courses that can range from 1 credit up to 30 credits. Micro-credentials are small, accredited courses designed to meet the demands of learners, enterprise and organisations. Micro-credentials provide learning opportunities which offer a highly flexible, bite sized and accessible way of upskilling and reskilling. The government’s Human Capital Initiative (HCI) programme has subsidised the Micro-credentials for 2024/25 which have all been developed through one of the SETU HCI Pillar 3 Projects. This course will be delivered online and is 50% subsidised so the cost of the course has been reduced from 400 to 200 euros for participants. The course will be delivered by one of our highly experienced lecturers and is due to commence for 8 weeks starting Wednesday the 30th of October to the 18th of December with the final 4 weeks of the course recommencing on the 8th of January to the 29th of January. SETU Lifelong Learning have opened up applications for the Certificate in Health and Wellbeing in Social Care Practice. This programme was developed in collaboration with Family Carers Ireland and is fully funded as part of the "Supporting Family Carers Across Ireland Project". The programme is designed to give learners an in depth understanding of the factors that impact holistic Health and Wellbeing. The course is due to commence on Monday the 14th of October and will run for 8 weeks from 2pm to 5pm. Patrick Lynch and Richie Dawson from the Enterprise Ireland - funded Lean Industry 4.0 centre gave a very interesting presentation to the South East Regional Skills Forum today. LI4 are experts in helping organisations to design and implement sustained transformative process improvements though a range of tools including immersive digital simulation. It was particularly interesting for us in SETU LLL, as part of the upskilling ecosystem, to engage in their discussion on the importance defining future objectives and then designing how to get there across: People – Capability Development Process – Productivity Optimisation Technology – Digital Enablement & Transformation i.e. the desired future state informs training, learning and development strategy - by design - as opposed to simply to responding to skills gaps that have already arisen. LI4 are based in workLAB Waterford and are available to consult with organisations including helping them to secure de minimus funding to engage in transformative development without disrupting the existing business.

We had some really interesting discussions with staff in the Teva Pharmaceuticals canteen in Waterford yesterday on lifelong learning options available to them and how to focus in on what course to choose.
