Congratulations to our #FarmerAmbassadors John and Brendan Walsh, who recently won Teagasc 'Environmentally Sustainable Farmer of the Year 2024' 👏 🎊 Farming in Ballylooby, Co. Tipperary, father and son John and Brendan Walsh, are working with nature to farm more sustainably. As of today, 65% of their farm contains clover - and some paddocks have not received chemical fertiliser in the past two years! The farming duo also use buffer zones to protect #waterquality, and manage hedgerows to allow white thorn trees to grow. #FarmerAmbassador Shane Fitzgerald was also a finalist, and is a keen advocate in the dairy industry. We are delighted to see the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation demonstrate their support for dairy at the 2024 Goalkeepers Event during Climate Week NYC, Climate Group. Around the globe, communities rely on the nutrients in milk to nourish their bodies and brains 🌍 🥛 It's a vital source of nutrition for many people - one that should not be taken for granted. For more information, watch the event's recording 👉 https://lnkd.in/dNJ7wJHx #IrishDairy #NutritiousFromTheGroundUp #GatesFoundation #ClimateWeekNYC
One of the most notable announcements at Climate Week NYC has been the official release of a report from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, “A Race to Nourish a Warming World,” which cites increasing dairy production as a key to fighting malnutrition because of the nutrient density of dairy products. According to the report, programs that aim to increase milk production, improve its safety, and make it more accessible could help prevent 109 million cases of child stunting in just five countries— India, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Tanzania— by 2050. Programs such as Dairy Nourishes Africa, which is led by GDP along with Land O'Lakes Venture37 and Bain & Company, have been addressing this issue for several years in countries like Tanzania, with more projects to come through Pathways to Dairy Net Zero. This Forbes story provides an on-the-ground perspective on the importance of dairy and the Gates report. #ClimateWeekNYC

Today is #WorldSchoolMilkDay, which highlights the importance of milk in providing essential nutrients for school children 🥛 📚 📝 The EU School Milk Scheme is run in Ireland by The National Dairy Council in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, and plays a key role in helping children to meet the Department of Health’s recommended daily servings of dairy, as part of a healthy balanced diet. Participating children receive daily portions of milk and the scheme is supported by educational resources. The scheme is available to all primary and secondary schools. Schools that register for the #SchoolMilk Scheme receive two weeks of milk free! 🥛 And don't forget - it's not too late to register for today's webinar 👉 https://lnkd.in/eMXpKAxJ! Less than 3 weeks until HPX Performance Nutrition 2024 hosted by Sport Ireland! Get your tickets now 📆 🎟 HPX 2024 aims to delve into whether we recognise and harness the full extent of nutrition’s impact on athlete health and performance 🏃♀️ 🍽 🥛 Despite the rapid growth of applied research in #sportsnutrition, traditional metrics and cut-offs like #BodyComposition targets and hydration status may overlook subtle nuances or fail to capture the process and targeted outcomes of nutrition interventions on the health, well-being and performance of athletes, i.e. a robust and fuelled athlete. By bringing together experts, researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, the conference attempts to share ideas, identify gaps and explore opportunities to maximise the holistic impact of nutrition using multidisciplinary dialogue, reflections from the Paris Games and networking workshops. #IrishDairy #PerformanceFromTheGroundUp #Event #HPX #SportIreland
