🌍World Mental Health Day 🌍 can be a reminder to us all about the importance of prioritising our mental health. 🤰Pregnancy is a time of both physical and emotional change. 1 in 5 women will experience a mental health problem in pregnancy or in the first year postpartum. Sometimes this may impact her ability to cope and she may need some extra support. 🤱Breast milk is more than just food for your baby. It contains nutrients and many other ingredients that benefit your baby’s health. Breast milk is particularly valuable for babies born preterm, with a low birth weight or who are unwell. We're celebrating National Breastfeeding Week at The National Maternity Hospital! NMH Foundation supports breastfeeding in The NMH in several different ways from PRIME (Preterm Infants Need Milk Early) information leaflets, breast pumps, feeding chairs and an educational site www.nmhnicu.ie to support parents with babies in the neonatal intensive care unit. The 2024 Ireland's Fittest Company event last Friday was a great success, which raised over €32,000 to help mother and babies Thrive, Arrive, and Survive! Much needed funds for the NMH Foundation, which will go towards helping the thousands of mothers and babies who will need the specialist, world class care of the National Maternity Hospital in the coming year.
