PLACEengage is an AI-powered virtual town hall, designed to overcome ungrounded (often NIMBY-based) objections to local planning by allowing residents and stakeholders to ‘experience’ and then contribute to proposed developments through immersive technologies (mainly AR). The result is ‘Collaborative Pre-Planning Public Consultation For Meaningful Community Engagement’. PLACEengage is your virtual town hall. Experience proposed property developments through immersive technologies (AR/VR) and become an active voice in creating sustainable neighbourhoods. Stay up to date with the latest developments in real-time and contribute views from your smartphone 24/7.

Following 4 weeks of expert work by specialists PMAC, over 6km of quay walks in Dublin city centre have been cleaned to reveal its sparkling buttery Leinster granite, just in time for the national holiday. In some areas this will be the first major cleaning of the walls in a couple of decades. The walls are a beautiful 18th and 19thC legacy to the city and the Liffey quays are one of the great (if undervalued) urban spaces of the city. This cleaning is among a number of actions being taken along the river by various Dublin City Council offices; whether tree care by Parks Services, new lighting or the repair and refurbishment of the balustrades of historic bridges. Further work remains to be done to the walls, including some repointing and masonry repair. There are opportunities to introduce attractive heritage lighting and to widen footpaths alongside the river. And it would be transformative (though much more technically challenging) to clean the riverside of the walls. Ultimately a conservation management plan should be drawn up for the Liffey Quays to fully realise its potential as an amenity in the city. I was delighted to coordinate some of this recent work and take a further step forward to reinventing Dublin’s Quays.
Up early this morning (my favourite part of the day), sun shining and so happy to see signs of regeneration in Sligo town centre. Here are a few examples along a few metres of one street: 🏠 For sale/sold 📄 Planning permission being sought 🏗 Building works (The very friendly builder invited me into one of the buildings to take the internal photo.) #regeneration #brownfield #towncentre #towncentrefirst #sustainabledevelopment #construction #planning #sligo
