    It's another busy day for Team Ireland at the Paris Paralympic Games 💪 Kerrie Leonard is up first today in the W2 individual compound open elimination round. You can watch Kerrie competition live on RTÉ Player 4. Next up on the schedule for Team Ireland is Katie O'Brien and Tiarnán O'Donnell in the PR2 mixed doubles sculls from 9.50am. This will be live to watch on RTÉ Player 2. We also have a chance of competing in five finals today (pending earlier results) following Nicole Turners 6th place finish in the 50m Freestyle Final and Róisín Ní Riain’s 4th place finish in the 100m Butterfly.     Orla Comerford and Colin Judge will carry the flag for Team Ireland today at the Opening Ceremony at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.   Orla Comerford will compete in her third Paralympic Games after her debut appearance at the Rio 2016 Games. The T13 100m sprinter has been in electric form of late dropping her personal best time below 12 seconds for the first time in her career. Table Tennis star Colin Judge will be competing in his second Games. Colin has been in fantastic form this season advancing to the later stage in several competitions including winning bronze at the European Championships and more recently silver at the Czech Open.   The opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will be held at the Place de la Concorde today marking the first time that the Opening Ceremony will take place outside of the main stadium. There are 35 athletes set to compete for Ireland at the Games across 9 sports with the first of the athletes competing on August 29th. Best of luck Paralympics Ireland #TeamIreland

    The Irish men’s hockey team is gunning for a chance of European glory in the EuroHockey Championship B Qualifiers on the Sport Ireland Campus this week.  The event – running from August 22nd-25th - sees eight nations battling it out in the knockout tournament for one of the two remaining spots in the 2025 EuroHockey Championships, the top tier of European hockey. This tournament will provide an opportunity for fans to witness top-tier hockey live in Blanchardstown, Dublin – and there are tickets still available.  The Irish team, fresh from their outing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and ranked ninth in the Outdoor World Rankings, enter the tournament as strong contenders.  However, the competition is fierce with teams from Wales, Italy, Poland, Czechia, Türkiye, Luxembourg, and Malta all eager to claim their place in Europe’s elite competition. The event kicks off with four matches on Thursday, including Ireland’s opening game against Malta at 5.45pm.  The tournament format ensures plenty of action, with matches everyday culminating in the final on Sunday, August 25th, where the top two teams will secure their spots in next year’s EuroHockey Championships in Monchengladbach, Germany. The event is the latest high-profile sporting occasion on the Sport Ireland Campus, which just two weeks ago hosted the U20 Women’s European Volleyball Championships. Meanwhile, on December 1st the Campus will welcome the return of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup to the Campus.    Join the Excitement  Whether you are a die-hard hockey fan or new to the sport, this tournament offers a fantastic opportunity to witness some of Europe’s best hockey players.
