Sincere thanks to Jayesh Shinde at Digit for this interview with our CEO, Andrew Fleury about the progress we are making on disrupting the Indian ARAS market with scalable solutions that are set to make a major impact on PTW accident reduction. "Few places could use this technology more than India. The country is rapidly becoming the epicentre for two-wheeler usage, with enormous sales volumes and, unfortunately, staggering fatality numbers. “In 2023, 76,000 people died on Indian roads due to two-wheeler accidents – almost nine people every hour,” Fleury pointed out, referencing official data. “This was 1,000 people more than the year previous and 7,000 more than 2021,” he further pointed out." Computer vision safety for the next generation of mobility 🛴🚲🏍️
About us
Step into a modern car and you are protected by all the latest technology has to offer: Radar, Lidar, Computer Vision... but what about the most vulnerable - scooter & 2W riders, cyclists? We are the leading supplier of computer vision ARAS features for the next generation of sustainable mobility, passionately driven by our mission to keep every rider safe. Consumer bikes: *Launching on Kickstarter - Summer 2024!* Electric or analogue bike: Our phone + app system, which converts any smartphone into an AI rear view mirror, providing a livestream of what's coming behind and visual and audio warnings when vehicles get too close for comfort. Shared scooters: Our first mission! In 2020 we pioneered the use of computer vision to help shared operators keep scooters off sidewalks, avoid collisions and ensure they are correctly parked. We work with operators as well as major OEMs providing plug & play camera systems as well as software integration services. Powered 2-wheelers: Proud to deliver the first computer vision ARAS system to the Indian market with our partner, Qualcomm Technologies.

🎤 Only five days left until we head to #POLIS24, the POLIS Network Annual Conference where Andrew Fleury will be speaking on Thursday's Parallel Sessions on a topic which is close to our heart - the intersect between infrastructure and micromobility rider behavior. His talk, "Why do scooter riders mount the pavement?" will uncover some surprising facts on errant vehicle use and the role that computer vision can play to address this challenge in addition to its many smart city benefits. Shared micromobility provides a golden opportunity for cities to not only benefit from sustainable, cost efficient transport, but also a means to test-bed new innovations that can support many other focus areas. AI is one of many, but is a good example: - Computer vision rider insights can support a transparent and data-led conversation between operators and cities on safety management on an operational level. - these insights also support a better understanding on the influence of infrastructure and errant behaviors (95% of sidewalk riding event comes down to infrastructure) - micromobility infrastructure improvements led by data insights will improve safety not just for shared, but all riders - this kind of crowd-sourced vision data model opens up huge potential in terms of smart city insights, bike lane infrastructure analysis, rider trends, road surface audits and much more. Again, there are many technologies which cities can benefit and learn from through the shared micromobility model - not just AI. Looking forward to engaging with others on this topic and to meeting old and new friends and colleagues in beautiful Karlsruhe 🇩🇪 See you all there 🏙️ 🚀 🛴

Sunday was World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. We pause to remember the more than one million lives lost in road crashes each year. Every single life lost represents a family shattered and a community forever changed. The stark reality is that those on two wheels, bear a disproportionate burden of these tragedies. At Luna Systems, we believe technology will play a crucial role in preventing these heartbreaking losses into the future. We're passionate about our mission to deliver scalable advanced rider assistance systems that will make roads safer for all. #WDoR2024 #RoadSafety #VisionZero #ITSIndia

💡 Did you know that motorcycles actually account for the majority of global road fatalities, even though they represent a smaller percentage of vehicles on the road? 🏍️ 🚘 🛣️ 🛣️ Across South Asia and Southeast Asia the situation is highly concerning with motorcycles accounting for a devastating 46% of road deaths. In India, which has one of the highest motorcycle fatality rates in the world, almost nine people died every hour in 2023. While Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) have revolutionised car safety, saving countless lives, motorcycle safety innovation has lagged behind. Thanks to the global #SoftwareDefinedVehicle movement, innovation is expanding beyond 4-wheeled vehicles, enabling the world to reimagine the two-wheeled experience. Everyone deserves the right to safe transportation, regardless of the vehicle they choose and so we have developed cutting-edge Advanced Rider Assistance Systems #ARAS designed to help make a serious impact on global motorcycle safety. Our mission is clear: To empower OEMs worldwide with the tools they need to keep their riders safer on the road. 👉 In-ride ARAS features such as FCW, HWM, Blind Spot Detection & more 🦺 Post-ride AI Safety Coach: Advanced Ride Analytics to make riders more aware of riding behaviors like hanging in blindspots, tailgating and more. Come meet us at EICMA where we will be demoing our ready-to-deploy Qualcomm powered solutions with our partners, JMO TECH CO.,LTD and CODICO GmbH.
