🌟 Reflecting on Employee Appreciation Week at MHL 🌟 Last week, we celebrated Employee Appreciation Week as part of the annual MHL Employee Appreciation and Recognition Week, which got me thinking about the difference between feeling appreciated and feeling grateful. In the hospitality industry, we focus so much on ensuring our guests feel welcome, happy, and appreciated. But how often do we take a moment to reflect on our own sense of appreciation within our teams and for ourselves? Self-appreciation is so important. It reminds us that we also deserve the recognition and care we so freely give to others. Recognising and appreciating each other as colleagues strengthens our bonds and fosters a more connected and motivated team environment. At MHL, we made it a point to celebrate our teams in creative and engaging ways throughout the week. We indulged in sweets and treats, got our adrenaline pumping with activities like go-karting 🏎️, and took time for mindfulness with refreshing mocktails and a mindful art class, blending creativity with relaxation. We also enjoyed a fun "Guess Who?" game, where team members submitted their childhood photos for colleagues to guess their identities—bringing lots of laughter and memories to the surface! (can you spot me?!) And to close the week, we had a calming wind-down yoga session with the wonderful Muireann Ryan to reflect on our experiences and recharge. 🧘♂️ These activities weren’t just about having fun; they were meaningful reminders that every role, every effort, and every colleague truly matters. And the celebrations don’t stop there! We were absolutely thrilled to host The Galway Races for The Galway Races Summer Festival Ball, proudly supporting Graham Lee and The Injured Jockeys fund on Saturday. The event saw the fabulous Grainne Seoige and Brian Gleeson co-host a spectacular Black-Tie event, alongside close friends of Graham and President of the UK Irish Injured Jockey’s fund Sir. Anthony McCoy and Chairman of the Irish Injured Jockey’s Fund Ruby Walsh.
