We were absolutely thrilled to host The Galway Races for The Galway Races Summer Festival Ball, proudly supporting Graham Lee and The Injured Jockeys fund on Saturday. The event saw the fabulous Grainne Seoige and Brian Gleeson co-host a spectacular Black-Tie event, alongside close friends of Graham and President of the UK Irish Injured Jockey’s fund Sir. Anthony McCoy and Chairman of the Irish Injured Jockey’s Fund Ruby Walsh. We were delighted to host “Galway’s Best Hotels - A Day at the Galway Races” yesterday with Galway Bay Hotel and Clayton Hotels Galway. Guests were treated to a fabulous afternoon of dining from Lydon House catering and refreshing Moet in the Champagne Tent. The Galmont Hotel & Spa team are always stepping up to the challenge to switch to a more sustainable and greener future, driving innovation and implementing positive changes throughout the hotel. Below are steps that are taken by our Accommodation Department . ♻️We have a sign in each bedroom that encourages guests to reuse the towels. ♻️ We provide information to our guests about the environmentally friendly toiletries, paper based packaging and multiple water stations throughout the hotel that are available to use. ♻️The team are fully trained to replace the towels if they are in the bathtub or on the floor. ♻️We have wall mounted bottles for shampoo, conditioner, and lotion that we refill from a master dispenser which reduces single use plastics. ♻️Housekeeping team separate waste that is not already in a waste bin by using a bag for recycling and one for general waste. ♻️The toilet paper that is more than 50% used is moved to the back of house toilets which reduces waste. ♻️All staff are encouraged to take full advantage of the natural light coming in from the large windows when available by keeping curtains open. ♻️The AC is only used when members of staff or guests are in the rooms. ♻️Supervisors ensure that the lights are off before exiting a room. ♻️Team members are provided with and encouraged to use their reusable Galmont water bottles. ♻️Housekeeping Team are trained not to overuse water or consumables. The Galmont Hotel & Spa are thrilled to announce that we have taken our most impressive stride in sustainability yet by being awarded the prestigious Green Tourism Gold Award which recognises the business’ strong focus on reducing its environmental impact.🏆♻️ Marking only our second year in the Green Tourism awards certification program, remarkable efforts from The Galmont’s sustainably-minded team have seen our hotel move from the bronze level to gold within the space of just 12 months. “We’re delighted to have received the gold certification which recognises our strong sustainability ethos here at The Galmont. Over the past twelve months we have invested in our people by providing training to a newly formed Galmont Green Committee and providing the team on the ground the opportunity to review their own practices to be more environmentally aware. The hotel is continuously investing in sustainability practices which have so far included: upgrading our hotel boilers, LED lights now covering over 95% of the property, and bi-weekly energy usage meetings where actions are agreed and communicated to the team. We have reduced our gas usage per room sold by 19.6% and electricity by 16.2% from 2022. We also plan to reduce our total gas consumption by 20% and our electricity by 10% by the end of 2024. There’s still plenty to be done but this certification provides a huge morale boost in showing the whole team that the steps we’re taking aren’t going unnoticed.
