Supporting orthodontic patients during their treatment journey is just one way of improving population oral health. Ireland’s Chief Dental Officer, Dympna Kavanagh has been working with colleagues across the EU to collect evidence for best practices in oral health prevention and promotion to inform policy. #oralhealth
After a day when the importance of smiling confidently, eating happily, and hugging tightly came to our minds, it remains crucial to take action to ensure that these basic needs are met. "People are more interested in their emotional heart health than their actual heart health. But your emotional health is affected by poor oral health, it’s our wellbeing that’s so important, that is the missing ingredient." #SmileYourWayToAHealthyLife Dr Dympna Kavanagh (Chair)

SPHeRE Programme Scholar, RCSI Centre for Positive Health Sciences. Specialist Orthodontist. Past President Orthodontic Society of Ireland
This morning I was invited to zoom into hundreds of 4th, 5th &6th Class classrooms across Ireland for this week’s Meet the Scientist, for the START Competition. This is a brilliant initiative that I’m delighted to support and a wonderful opportunity to share some science about teeth, braces and positive health and the science behind the healthy teeth tips in the beautiful Dental Health Foundation resources. Thank you to all the schools who tuned in and for the curiosity and questions they brought! And to Éle Quinn for being a brilliant host.
