🚍We were excited to travel to Welditz Ltd in Carndonagh last week as part of the Interreg Europe WeSTEMEU project study visit. ⚙️Welditz offer comprehensive welding and fabrication services tailored to a diverse range of industries. 💼The team has over 40 years’ experience working in a wide range of areas including the marine, pharmaceutical, industrial, architectural, manufacturing and food sectors. 🧑🏭The visit featured an impressive tour of the state-of-the-art welding and fabrication facilities, showcasing the company’s significant investment in innovation and cutting-edge technology. 👩🔬Following that, co-director Maureen Cuddihy shared insights on her impressive career journey as a STEM industry leader. Maureen emphasised the many benefits for STEM based SMEs in fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. 👏🏼Our thanks to Maureen and the Welditz team for their stellar hospitality.

📸 Highlights from the Interreg Europe, WeSTEMEU Study Visit in Letterkenny. 🖥️ On Wednesday, project delegates had the pleasure of visiting the Donegal ETB, Errigal College, where we enjoyed an inspiring tour of the school’s innovative STEM and coding lab. 🤝 Thanks to a five-year partnership with Optum, the school has transformed an existing computer classroom into a dedicated STEM lab designed to promote education in coding and STEM, with a strong emphasis on encouraging female students to pursue these fields. 🚀 During the visit, STEM teachers and students shared insights into the school’s numerous initiatives to boost student interest in STEM studies. 👏 A special thanks to Evan Gorrell, Deirdre Markham, Danny Mcfadden, and students for an exceptional tour experience. It was great to see such a passion and focus for STEM education in the Northwest.

The 5th WeSTEMEU Study Visit kicked off yesterday with our Stakeholder Dissemination event. First to present was Joanne Sweeney from GEMX North West. GEMX is a network of engineering and manufacturing businesses collaborating with local further and higher education institutions to promote STEM skills and enhance employability. We were also joined by Grace Korbel from the Local Enterprise Office Donegal, who showcased the innovative AMBITION programme. AMBITION supports female entrepreneurs, equipping them with the skills and resilience needed to build globally scalable ventures, attract investment, and create jobs.
