Have you taken our National Disability Authority survey gathering pedestrians’ experiences with electric vehicles (EVs), which we are undertaking in partnership with Technological University of the Shannon? We are particularly keen to hear the experience of pedestrians with visual disabilities. This survey is part of the Taighde Eireann funded EVA (Electric Vehicle Acoustics) Project, which focuses on gaining insights about the impact of quiet Electric Vehicles on pedestrian safety since they operate more silently than traditional petrol or diesel cars. The survey is completely anonymous and available online, https://lnkd.in/eiafRUEr

In partnership with Age Friendly Ireland, we have published a new “Internal Layout Checklist for Universal Design Homes”, a summary of guidelines from the Universal Design Guidelines for Homes in Ireland that impact on the internal layout of dwellings. Our colleague Ruth O'Reilly was delighted to present an Introduction to Universal Design in the Built Environment to first year undergraduate urban planning students at University College Dublin today. The presentation was provided as part of a module called "Contemporary Issues in Planning", which covers topics on diversity, inclusion and ethics in planning practice. Thank you to Linda Fox-Rogers for the invitation.

The Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CEUD)'s Fíonnadh Mcgonigle recently gave a guest lecture to 3rd year interior design students at Technological University Dublin. These students will be entering our Universal Design Grand Challenge, in the Built Environment category.
