Ramat Negev Wine Gains Global Recognition! We are proud to share that Ramat Negev Winery has been awarded the prestigious Platinum Medal at the International Decanter Competition in London. Their Exodus Grand Reserve 2018 wine, the first #Israeli wine to receive this honor, scored an impressive 97 points, triumphing over 18,000 entries from renowned wineries worldwide. This was no isolated achievement—Exodus Grand Reserve 2018 also recently won two gold awards at the local Terra Vino competition with a score of 95. A Bright Future Ahead for Frontier Portfolio Company AgriLight!  AGRILIGHT Energy, a Start AgriTech Cohort II Graduate, is an innovative Israeli #agrivoltaic #startup that optimizes solar radiation to meet #agricultural crop needs while maximizing #electricity production.  Recently, the startup launched its first pilot with the support of Ramat Negev Research Center. This agrivoltaic project utilizes patented two-axis #solar #technology on a rail system to move solar panels horizontally above a vineyard in the #Negev Desert.   After the #pilot, scheduled until August 2024, proves successful, AgriLight plans to establish commercial projects in Israel and Spain next year, along with more pilots in Europe, the United States, and Africa.  “Agri-Light's solution addresses the conflict of balancing the necessary sunlight for crops and solar panels,” said AgriLight CEO, Udi Wild. “It enables more comfortable plant growth conditions – reducing the temperature in extreme and prolonged weather conditions, protecting against hail and frost, and saving irrigation water due to reduced evaporation."  We are proud to support AgriLight’s innovative approach to regenerative agriculture and plant shading. Israel’s largest and oldest green organization, Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael - Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF), visited MOP Ramat Negev and Frontier! The day began with a captivating tour of the MOP Ramat Negev facilities, led by Dr. Yuval kaye, Director of The Ramat Negev Research Center. He showcased the advanced infrastructure supporting the Center’s cutting-edge #AgriTech #research and MOP-Ramat Negev’s future fully-automated greenhouse project, which includes robots that will permit full operation with no human labor, just oversight. Following the tour, Eran Doron, Mayor of Ramat Negev, delivered a warm welcome, and Shaul Zaban, Supervisor of the Regional Agricultural R&D centers at KKL-JNF, introduced the collaborative efforts between KKL-JNF, Ramat Negev, and Frontier, and future partnership potential. Yariv Erez, CEO, then presented Frontier’s unique business model, including local #pilots in collaboration with MOP Ramat Negev and our global #innovation activities in #Utah. Revolutionizing the Spice That Costs More Than Gold #Saffron, the most expensive spice in the world, is now being domesticated by Saffron Tech.  The revolutionary Start AgriTech Cohort 1 graduate has just launched its pilot site in partnership with Dreamtech and the Israel Innovation Authority רשות החדשנות. Saffron Tech’s indoor vertical farm will propel the startup's technological proof of concept, testing every stage of the saffron #cultivation process. The Alpha site’s primary aim is to obtain and build upscale growing protocols for the first industrial saffron farm in the world. “We’re basically fast-forwarding the different stages of the saffron life cycle,” said Tal Wilk Glazer, CEO of Saffron Tech. “By growing saffron indoors, we’ll be able to cultivate it much quicker than the regular outdoor cycle,” she continued. Saffron's hefty price tag stems from its lengthy farming process and short cultivation window. By embracing saffron cultivation year-round, Saffron Tech’s innovative vertical farming technique shortens the process significantly. An expert in precision #nutrition and #biotechnology, the #startup utilizes Advanced #AI and protein intelligence to offer indication-specific functional proteins perfectly suited for humans. Recently, at the Vitafoods Europe 2024 Nutraceutical Trade Show in Geneva, MAOLAC won the prestigious NutraIngredients Award in the Startup category. “Maolac is developing a very interesting concept which could be a real game changer - developing proteins from breast milk with specific health benefits, specifically inflammation and gut health”, said the judges. MAOLAC’s human #data to back its finished products rather than relying on third-party data was especially impressive to the judges.
