Super exciting, HK too. P-Cure has officially established a presence in Hong Kong, a strategic move in our mission to propel access to life-saving proton therapy globally. Our goal is to bring the most advanced, targeted cancer treatment to patients worldwide, and Hong Kong’s unique geographic and economic position makes it an ideal hub for expanding. With over 35,000 new cancer cases each year—half of whom require radiation therapy—Hong Kong’s healthcare landscape already demonstrates a high level of commitment to providing quality cancer care. Currently, there is one proton therapy center at the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, which has been operational for over a year and serves as a model in the region. The center has seen impressive clinical results (Wong et al (2024)), reinforcing the importance of proton therapy in the treatment landscape. Proton therapy at this center currently costs between $40,000 and $80,000. With a government covering up to 90% of personal general healthcare costs, Hong Kong continues to set a high standard for ensuring its citizens have access to the most effective treatments. We believe that the proton therapy will not be an exception. At P-Cure, we’re proud to support dedication to accessible and effective cancer care. I was pleased to present the latest advancements in upright proton therapy treatments on behalf of P-Cure Ltd at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) Physics Workshop in Krakow. https://lnkd.in/edN775wb   A special thanks to the chairs of our session - Ye Zhang, Lennart Volz, Tracy Underwood and Cristina Garibaldi - for bringing together such a diverse group of experts to discuss and debate the challenges and opportunities of gantry-less radiotherapy. It was exciting to explore different approaches and hear the expectations of the medical physics and clinical communities for upright treatments.   I look forward to seeing how these efforts pave the way for widespread, global access to advanced radiotherapy modalities. #healthcare #radiotherapy #ESTRO #physics

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! Breast cancer is a leading cause of cancer death, surpassed only by lung cancer. Although proton treatment is relatively new for breast cancer, clinical trials have already shown excellent signs of disease control and minimal side effects compared with traditional forms of treatment.
