Prof. Tal Raviv and Prof. Yossi Bukchin have developed a grid-based material handling system called 'grid-to-belt,' which combines grid and conveyor-belt technologies for efficient sorting operations. This system uses a grid of four-way conveyors (4WCs) to pre-sort items into output cells, which are then directed to conveyor belts via funnels. An innovative centralized algorithm optimizes item movement, resulting in up to 15 times higher throughput. The grid-to-belt system is scalable, resilient, and adaptable, making it suitable for parcel sorting, baggage handling, and distribution center operations. For more information about this technology and its applications, please contact Zvi Cheshnover, Director of Business Development, High-Tech, at zvi.cheshnover@ramot.org. #grid #gridtobelt #conveyor #conveyorbelt #innovation #technology #research #researchinnovation #operationstech

New joint research project led by Prof. Lihi Adler-Abramovich from Tel Aviv University and Dr. Livnat Afriat Jurnou from the MIGAL Galilee Research Institute and Tel-Hai College, with contributions from PhD student Yoav Dan, developed an innovative and eco-friendly process for breaking down pollutants that harm both the environment and human health. The study focused on the toxic pesticide parathion, an organophosphate still used in developing countries, which contaminates soil and can seep into water sources. The new method combines enzymes and natural bacteria to degrade the pesticide into harmless substances. According to the researchers, this platform could be applied to various toxic pollutants and may assist in future soil and water decontamination efforts. Ramot - Tel Aviv University's Tech Transfer Company פרסם מחדש את זה
Tel Aviv University marked one year since the October 7 tragedy and the Iron Swords War. Speaking at the official TAU ceremony President Prof. Ariel Porat: "A year has gone by since Israel went through the most terrible calamity in its history, the Jewish people's worst disaster since the Holocaust. A year has passed, and 101 hostages are still held by Hamas in the dreadful tunnels of Gaza, with no rescue in sight. A year has passed, and almost every day we hear of more soldiers killed or wounded. A year has passed, and most evacuees, from the north and south of Israel, are still refugees in their own land. A year has passed since that horrible Saturday, and as time goes by we discover that very few of those accountable for the bloody fiasco are willing to take responsibility. Tel Aviv University has lost 19 of its students. 96 families from the TAU community have lost immediate family members. Many more suffer physical or psychological harm. In the coming academic year, we will receive—with great awe—many students who have risked their lives so that we may live. Some of them have been deeply scarred in their bodies or souls. We will do everything we can to help them, so that they can successfully study and complete the academic year. We are forever indebted to them for their courage and sacrifice".
