With everything from outdoor pools to food trucks, a lively bar, and diverse workshops (wine tasting to yoga!), it was the perfect day to chill and connect. Highlights included a heartfelt speech from our CEO, Mickey Bahar, and an electrifying musical performance by the Ma Kashur Trio. The day wrapped up with a dance party under the stars. Fostering Innovation through Strategic Investments in Startups 📈 At our recent educational forum, Samsung Catalyst Fund team members, Rutie Adar and Gil Rotenberg , shared invaluable insights from their research on the challenges and opportunities of driving innovation within large corporations. The session kicked off with interactive quizzes and discussions on business cases that sparked innovative thinking among our team. We delved into how investments in cutting-edge technologies—and the talented individuals behind them—can catalyze further innovation. Israel stands as a global hub for Deep Tech startups, with pioneering efforts in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centers, autonomy, robotics, and more. During the presentation, we highlighted several exciting Israeli startups leading these fields. At Samsung Israel R&D Center, we're at the forefront of technological advancements, continuously crafting innovative solutions.

Meet Guy Horowitz, a hobbyist carpenter, a husband, a father of 3 and a Director at Samsung Israel R&D Center - SIRC. Believe it or not, he's been with us for almost 17 years! Joined just a few months before Transchip was acquired by Samsung in 2007 and became SIRC. "What tipped the scale for SIRC was the smoking balcony upstairs," he recalls. "With a bamboo roof and reliable WIFI, smokers could sit with their laptops and work from the balcony. It was very cozy," he says. "I was the second verification person in the company, along with Gary (Gershon Orenshtein), and it was very enjoyable. I influenced processes. Everything moved fast and easy. If we needed to change environments, concepts, methodologies... we sat in the same room - we'd decide among ourselves and just do it. The place was small and dynamic." Over the years, Guy has kept his work dynamic, managed several teams and projects; established a development department, worked with global teams and of course, strengthened his partnership with Gary (after all, they had been in the same room for 8 years), always tackling fascinating professional challenges. "Looking at what makes SIRC unique, there is plenty of room to reinvent yourself. Every time I change a position, it's equivalent to changing a profession, but at the same workplace. 🌟 SIRC at the 45th IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy: Exploring the Future of AI Security 🌟 Last month, Barak Bringoltz, a Senior Machine Learning Scientist at SIRC, attended the 45th IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy, held in San Francisco. This event, a premier forum for cybersecurity researchers, highlighted cutting-edge developments in various topics, including securing Generative AI and Deep Learning systems. Among the symposium’s sessions, and with the wide-spread of Gen-AI, the "Security Architectures for Generative-AI Systems" workshop discussed securing such applications from a system point of view, and the “7th Deep Learning Security and Privacy” workshop addressed security challenges associated with deep learning.   The symposium featured keynotes from leading experts like Ben Zhao from the University of Chicago, David Wagner from University of California, Berkeley, Nicolas Carlini from Google DeepMind, Eric Wallace from OpenAI, and Sven Cattell from nbhi.ai, as well as many other fascinating keynotes, talks, and posters from academics worldwide. 🌟 Inspiring Change Through Education: SIRC's Volunteering Initiative with Nitzotzot ניצוצות 🌟 Over the past few months, a team of dedicated SIRC employees has been volunteering via Nitzotzot, delivering enriching lessons to ninth-grade students at Mikveh Israel School. Nitzotzot leads a passionate community of volunteers driven to inspire all students across Israel. They open a world of self-fulfillment for the students through a series of diverse interactions, personal examples, and social engagement, equipping them with essential life skills often not fully provided in formal education. Ohad Ben Shushan reflected on his volunteering experience, saying, "It was important for me to share the significance of setting goals and breaking them into manageable tasks. Especially now, giving back is incredibly meaningful, and showing the students that they can achieve their dreams, no matter how distant they seem, is profoundly impactful. Every child needs one adult who believes in them. I believe in them and wish them all the best in the world." 🌈 Celebrating Pride Month at SIRC: A Journey from Bnei Brak to TLV 🌈 This Pride Month, SIRC was honored to host Shany Navon for an enlightening talk titled "From Bnei Brak to TLV." Shany, shared her life story, chronicling her journey as an orthodox lesbian from a religious upbringing in Bnei Brak, through love, marriage, motherhood, and eventually divorce. Throughout her talk, Shany opened up about the myriad challenges she faced and the continuous need to come out of the closet daily, illustrating how these experiences have intertwined with her professional growth. From starting as a designer to becoming a Senior Product Manager at D-ID, responsible for leading innovative AI products, her path highlights that diversity, while challenging, is a profound asset. Her unique perspective enriches her commitment to diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. Thank you, Shany, for sharing your story and for showing us that embracing our true selves can drive us to achieve remarkable things.
