Among them was Dr. Liran Levy, Medical Director of the Lung Transplant Program at Sheba Medical Center, who volunteered as a combat doctor, risking his life to save others amid the chaos of bullets flying overhead. On the battlefield, Dr. Levy treated young soldiers not just as patients, but as if they were his own children and friends. “These kids were able to get into my heart,” says Dr. Levy. Dr. Levy’s dedication helped countless soldiers recover from severe injuries, including performing two life-saving lung transplant surgeries.
