From Walled Gardens to Public Parks: The Evolution of AI and Innovation In 2016, I had the privilege of speaking at the Max Planck Institute in Germany about AI and the future of innovation. Little did I know that I was unknowingly planting seeds for what would grow into a full-fledged concept years later! Heartificial Intelligence: Not Just Another Cheesy Portmanteau Thanks to my brilliant friend Kiran BS, PhD, we coined the term "Heartificial Intelligence." No, it's not a new dating app for robots 😁 – it's about infusing empathy and holistic thinking into AI systems. The Great AI Debate: Walled Garden or Public Park? I posed a question that's still hot today: Should AI be a walled garden or a public park? While everyone was building fences, I was dreaming of swings and slides for all! 🎢 Cross-Domain Knowledge Graphs: Ahead of My Time? I mentioned "cross-domain knowledge graphs" without fully grasping the nitty-gritty. Fast forward to today, and my friend theuday Po calls to tell me we're building exactly that at Kreat.ai. Talk about being a visionary... or just really good at buzzword bingo! 😉 The Power of Collaboration My core argument? Single nodes (or people, or companies) tend to be self-centered. True innovation comes from effective collaboration across domains, understanding contradictions, and working together for the greater good. Ethical AI: The Neutral Observer When asked to join the Ethical AI bandwagon, I chose to stay neutral. Why? Because AI hadn't shown its full potential (or its full capacity for mayhem) yet. Sometimes, you've got to let the robot toddler stumble a bit before teaching it manners. A Work in Progress When Uday asked how I came up with these ideas 8 years ago, my response was simple: "I've been a Work In Progress for a long time." This reminded me of my friend Rajesh Setty's profound quote: "I am a 'work in progress.' I guarantee my work and leave the progress to God." Aren't we all works in progress, constantly evolving and growing? 🌱 Introducing Kreat.ai Speaking of progress, I'm excited to introduce you to Kreat.ai, where we're turning these long-held visions into reality. A simple change in how you present information can make a huge difference in user perception and interaction.
