PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised Viksit Bharat Conclave 2024 : New Era of EV, Green-Tech & Digital Start-ups on 24 September at New Delhi which brought together Policy Makers, Industry leaders, a large number of Startups, Innovators and Researchers on one platform to deliberate on EV, Green-Tech & Digital Startups. ADIF was the Co-Host of the event. The Chief Guest, Mr. Sudhendu J Sinha, IRTS, Adviser, NITI Aayog, stated that for the first time in 75 years after independence, India was seriously working towards becoming Viksit Bharat. He informed that the Government had identified 26 themes on which deliberations were going on to develop Vision Documents with specific milestones and deadlines. He underscored that significance of EV and Green-Tech sectors for a Viksit Bharat by 2047 and termed PLI schemes as game changing developments. As India accelerates its journey towards electric mobility, PHDCCI, in collaboration with the OMI Foundation as the Knowledge Partner, unveiled a comprehensive report titled “Powering Startups and MSMEs for an EV-Ready India”, released during the event. With India's Panchamrit goals focusing on addressing climate change, Electric mobility - with its potential to decarbonise the mobility and energy sectors alike - is a low-hanging fruit. The Report, highlights the critical contributions of startups and MSMEs in shaping the EV landscape and are leading the charge towards a cleaner, more sustainable future. Recommendations in the report include expanding credit access, diversifying financing channels, and fostering collaborations among startups, incubators, and financial institutions to bridge the funding gap. With a focus on skill-building and inclusion, the report emphasises the need for customised training programs and promoting the participation of women, persons with disabilities, and marginalised communities in the EV industry. "Startups and MSMEs are the engines of innovation in the EV sector. With the right policy support and investments, India is well-positioned to lead the global EV movement, providing localised solutions that cater to both domestic needs and international markets”, said Aishwarya Raman, Executive Director, OMI Foundation.
