Usually, I ignore any salty remarks on me, and our work at ISAIL & IPLR, especially from people in the law fraternity, since most of such opinions are personal, and ignorant. I am too busy to waste my time on such people. 🙄 While the opinions are generic and misinformed, I am much well-aware that despite us touching lives of so many law students, young professionals, and talented legal luminaries in India, since 2019, via ISAIL, many remain ignorant of what we have achieved. There are also some in the so-called technology policy fraternity, who consist of amazing people, in India. However, some of them have most of their tech policy inclinations rotating around 'Big Tech' and 'MeiTY'. Their world ends, and starts there. Maybe since these interactions are limited to Delhi & Bengaluru, they won't get what someone from Guwahati, or Lucknow or Mumbai or Gandhinagar would think of. I pity them. Now, we at the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law truly believe that the tech policy contributions of people from Lucknow, Vishakhapatnam, Guwahati, Kochi, and many places across Bharat matter. They are not mindless people. Many do not have the luxury to come to Delhi / Bengaluru for all the talk shop events 😔. Many cannot come to attend the Raisina Dialogues of the world. Even the G20 India presidency failed in bringing true policy incisiveness among people in several non-diplomatic events (don't get me started on Y20 and others). While most law academics in India mindlessly reshare content on this app without reading at all, we've been actively contributing since 2019: My AI and Law journey: - First paper published in 2018 📜 - AI and Law papers in 2 international publications in 2020 itself 🌍 - First AI and Law book with a third-party publisher (Mid-June 2019) 📚 - Drafted India's first privately proposed AI regulation (aiact.in) because of our efforts at ISAIL Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law's milestones 🧑⚖️💻: - Established 2018, incorporated November 2019 - First chapter collection published April 2020 (mid-pandemic) 🦠 - Ran 2 journals until April 2022 📰 - Mentored 100-200 law students through internships by 2022 🎓 - Published Handbooks on AI and International Law (2020, 2021) with 50+ international law chapters 📚 - The only bottom-top proper policy representation body on AI ethics from Central Uttar Pradesh The lack of inclusivity in India's tech law & policy community is glaring.
