Event Highlights: Plywood, Panel & Furniture Industry Meet We at Association of Furniture Manufacturers & Traders (INDIA) AFMT are excited to share the success of the recently organised event on the "Need for Forward and Backward Linkage" held on 15th July 2024 at the Institute Of Wood Science And Technology (IWST), Bangalore. This significant event was a #collaborative effort by the Association of Furniture Manufacturers & Traders (INDIA) AFMT , the Federation Of Indian Plywood & Panel Industry (FIPPI), and IWST. Esteemed AFMT representatives, Honorary Secretary Mr. Amiet Barot (AB) Barot and Committee Member Mr. Shailesh Patel, graced the occasion with their presence. The discussions centered around the evolving raw material scenario and the critical policy issues impacting the panel industries. A key highlight was the role of ICFRE-IWST in the ongoing revision and amendment of Indian standards, achieved through continuous engagement with the Bureau of Indian Standards and the panel industry sector. The primary objective of this meet was to raise awareness and impart knowledge about technological advancements in the quality of panel products to ensure compliance with the Quality Control Orders (QCO). An open house interaction facilitated a vibrant exchange of ideas among stakeholders, policymakers, and the furniture industry. This interactive session is a step towards forging stronger forward linkages between the wood-based panel industry and the furniture sector.
