Architectural greetings take various forms—be it the handshake of modernism or the embrace of traditional techniques. At IIM Bangalore, BV Doshi’s design embodies these interactions, merging the landscape with the built environment. Each element of the campus, from the structures to the gardens, creates a dialogue that is both respectful and engaging. Over the years, IIMB has evolved into a harmonious blend of architecture and nature. Its gardens and structures have matured together, embodying a profound relationship that balances human needs with the environment. This syncretic expression of design offers a sanctuary that feels both timeless and contemporary, enriching the architectural narrative of the site. #architecture #interiordesign #design #craft #nature #traditional

Billy O’Tea, designed by STOMP Architects in Thoothukudi, honors the city’s maritime heritage. Its ship-inspired design blends seamlessly with the surroundings, while interior details evoke a nautical experience. This project exemplifies contextual modernism, celebrating local culture. The design features a flowing dining space with sliding glass panels that open to a small courtyard, echoing the movement of water. This theme reinforces the idea of a ‘docked ship’. A standout element is the tiered terrace on the first floor, evoking a ship’s hull, which channels rainwater into a pond and provides a perfect spot for night sky viewing or outdoor cinema. https://lnkd.in/gVEy-ZyX #architecture #craftsofindia #interior #design #sustainbledesign
